Welcome to Digital Studio at the Kilgore Gifted Center!
My name is Mrs. Lisa Ann Wilson and I've been teaching this ever-evolving, dynamic course for grades 6-8 at SGC, and now KGC, since 2010. DS is unique to KGC: an elective for gifted middle grade students to explore communication skills through technology projects.
Here's a little bit about me...
I moved to Hampton Roads in 1986; my dad was in the Air Force and Langley AFB was his last base assignment before retiring.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at State University of NY Geneseo, I went to ODU for a Master of Science in Instructional Technology. I taught middle school science for 11 years before coming to HCS in 2002, where I have been in computer education ever since. This is my 37th year of teaching.
My parents live in Newport News; I have one sister, Loriann, and she lives in Newport News, too. My husband & I (and our Border Collie Indy!) live in Hampton. My step son and daughter-in-law have two sons: Hunter and Oliver.
My sister is really my best friend! She is two years younger than me; an amazing artist (she works in business); and she is my hero! We both enjoy painting pottery, walking the Noland Trail in Newport News, and listening to 80s music. Well, let's be honest: we both enjoy pedicures and shopping, too!
Besides teaching, I love reading (love books!), kayaking, biking, and photography. (Some of my favorite photos are in the slideshow, above.)
My husband and I love to go traveling, kayaking, & biking; and we love to play with Indy.
