What are your goals for this school year? Are you close to achieving any of them yet? Do you believe you actually CAN meet them? What about your students? Have they set goals? Where are they in the process of achieving them? How can you help them? Are you talking to them regularly about their goals? Our mindset can be a powerful thing. We are have almost finished the first 9 weeks of school. While it may feel that we have an eternity left, we really don't. Time is of the essence and we don't have a second to waste! Don't doubt yourself or the abilities of your students to achieve BIG things!
Please remember to keep ALL doors closed and locked at all times. This includes both interior and exterior doors. Officer Craig is checking them regularly and we have to log the data for the district. I want us to get a 100% for this!
Vital behavior #6: "When I teach a lesson, I use discourse strategies requiring all students to participate in student-to-student academic talk." This should be a regular part of your conversations during collaborative planning and PLCs. We should not only be planning for these opportunities, but also be thinking about how we want students to respond when they do participate in discourse opportunities. We are going to continue to encourage you all to talk about this and reflect on this practice and it's impact on student achievement. We will be talking with the Leadership Team later this month and will be planning walk-throughs using the tool to provide you with peer feedback.
Please remind students as the weather starts to change to put names on coats, jackets, sweatshirts, and hoodies! Also, remind them to GET THEM OFF THE PLAYGROUND each day! I hate that kids lose so many items and our lost and found is already starting to get full. 🧥
Wednesday, October 14th is a school PL day. Agenda is linked HERE. Please plan accordingly. Also, please plan to wear your NEW Wildcat T-shirt!
Let me know how I can support you better! I appreciate each of you and I hope you have a great Fall break next week!
Thank you for all you do! 🫶

District Updates:
BrainPop Rosters & Assignments:
The district has been working with BrainPop to fix an issue for teachers having duplicate rosters. In order to fix the issue, they will have to run a new sync that will delete the duplicate rosters. However, currently, it is nearly impossible for teachers to know if they created assignments for the original or duplicate roster. Therefore, they are going to wait and have BrainPOP run the new sync on October 14th. This will allow you to record grades and students to finish assignments in Term 1 without losing their work/grades in the gradebook. Teachers are able to export grades from the assignment dashboard, if it is needed.
Please make sure your students have completed all assignments in BrainPOP and you have recorded grades BEFORE October 14th.
