We are tasked with lots of heavy things. One of them being to monitor and provide support for students that are in need. We have kids that are going through A LOT. Some of it we know about, and some of it we don't. Believe me, I sometimes don't know how to act or react to situations, but I can tell you that my goal is to error on the side of kindness and grace. I'm not saying that's easy or that I nail it every time, what I am saying is that I try. I encourage you to sit back and take note of the kiddos in your class. What is your relationship with them? What can you do to get them know them even better than you already do? Is there a student that just moved in that you haven't gotten to bond with yet? Is there a student that has had a change in circumstances that you may need to get a little insight on? I appreciate (and so does each child) the time that you take to build relationships with the kids in your care! Reflect on your process and think about where you can refine.
Olivia, Beth and myself went to a BTAM (Behavior Threat Assessment Management team) training today and will share more details with you soon. One big thing to note is that we must continue to teach our kids that if they see something, say something! Student safety is our number one goal and together we can accomplish it.
The Leadership Team met on Monday to calibrate our feedback and they are now ready to get into some classrooms and start using the tool. Please talk to your representative about this process. Vital behavior #6: "When I teach a lesson, I use discourse strategies requiring all students to participate in student-to-student academic talk."
I am looking forward to seeing you all at the Curriculum Tailgate and PTO Movie Night this Friday at CHS! Please talk with your Leadership Team representative about when to be there and what you need to have with you.
Reach out if I can assist you in any way.
Thank you for all you do! 🫶
**We are always excited to recognize PAWSitive Office Referrals! We are now posting pictures to our social media. If you know a child DOES NOT have permission, please let us know BEFORE you send them up for a photo**

How long are you staying in the "we do" of your reading lesson? I encourage you to consider how you can offer kids more authentic guided practice using REAL texts and developing language and fluency. Many of the discourse strategies we have learned would make GREAT work sessions.
