News from the Front Office

Our Warriors have now been in school OVER 100 Days! Last week, we enjoyed our Enrichment Clusters. Enrichment Clusters are a block of time set aside each month to allow K-5th Grade students to explore, create, and participate in inquiry-based learning at CMCSI. Although Enrichment Clusters look different this year with students remaining in their homerooms, students still participate in engaging activities that included experiments, projects, interest-based learning, and much more. Ask your child about what they are doing in their Enrichment Cluster!

February promises to be busy at CMCSI! We are looking forward to Valentines Exchanges, The Book Fair, Parents Night Out from our Partner in Education, Dojo and of course watching our Warriors continue to learn and grow.

At the end of February, Read Across America Week will be a highlight of our year complete with literacy themed days, mystery readers, reading class activities and more! Details will be coming home later this month for Read Across America Week.

Bus Tracking My Stop App

Need to check arrival time for your child's bus? Wondering if your child's bus will arrive on time?

Versatrans My Stop™ is a mobile app that provides access to bus information, while providing parents valuable information about their child’s bus route and approximate time of arrival at their stop. Parents can download this app thru the App store to an IOS device, or to Android devices from Google Play. Information available here in English or Spanish.

To use the My Stop app:

After the Versatrans My Stop app has been downloaded, Tap the My Stop app icon to launch the My Stop app. At the landing screen, select the “TAP TO SELECT A SCHOOL DISTRICT” to display a list of school districts. If the screen is blank, tap the “CLOSEST DISTRICTS BUTTON”. On the Following screen, select Hall County School District and tap OK. At the login screen, the Username will be the student ID as provided by the school system. The default password will be your student D.O.B. (Enter as two-digit month, two-digit day, and four-digit year without any spaces or dashes). Tap Login. The My Stop screen displays your child’s name.

**If there is more than one student associated with a household, you can request all students to be grouped together by sending a request to the transportation department via email to bushelp@hallco.org. While placing this request please provide the following information.

- All requested student ID numbers

- Student birthdays (2 digit month,2 digit day, 4 digit year)

- Associated primary home address.

Once request has been received and processed, parents will be able to tap on the child’s name and a map will display with their bus route and current bus location. The bus route and bus location only display when the route is scheduled and GPS data is available. If the route is scheduled and there is no GPS data then it will still show the student stop but not the bus. Tap Setup. A screen displays that allows you to subscribe to “Delayed Bus notifications”, change your password, or add and edit user email address.

CMCSI Parents Night Out at The Dojo

Dojo is hosting Parents Night Out for CMCSI students on Friday, February 18th from 6:00-9:00 PM for $30 per student. Pizza will be provided. Registration is limited to the FIRST 50 STUDENTS, and then students will be placed on a waiting list. CMCSI will contact parents to complete the waiver, registration and payment if their child is in the FIRST 50 by February 11th. To register your child for Dojo's Parents Night Out, complete this form (CMCSI will contact parents to confirm/complete registration). Please complete a separate form for each student (ONLY CMCSI students may attend.)

Dojo's mission is to build better kids. ALL proceeds will be donated back to the school as a fundraising event! This is an action packed evening at the Dojo with the coaching staff! We will be playing dodgeball, video games, karate, breaking plastic boards, hide and seek, and so much more! See you there, Warriors!

Magnet Application for CMCSI NOW OPEN!

If you know friends & family who would like to attend CMCSI next year, but do not live in our attendance zone, we are now accepting Magnet Applications through March 18th. (Students who are already accepted and attending CMCSI through our Magnet Program do NOT need to reapply.) More information & the Magnet Program Application can be found here. Media Center Renovations Coming Soon!

We are VERY excited that our CMCSI Media Center will be renovated thanks to the Hall County School District SPLOST Funds! Our Media Center renovations begin this spring and should be completed in June. In order for our new Learning Commons to be ready to start the 2022-23 school year, we will be closing, packing, and moving out soon! We WILL need parent volunteers to help in our move, so please email ramsey.malone@hallco.org if you are available to help.

Mrs. Lewis-Thomas and our teachers and staff are working together to be sure our students and classrooms have the resources needed even though the actual Media Center will be closed. Our timeline for the new CMCSI "Learning Commons" is below:

    - Packing and Moving Boxes to Alternate Location – 3/7 – 4/22

Character Education

February's character word is Compassion. Students are learning that compassion means caring enough to do something about someone else' need.
