News from the Front Office

Happy New Year CMCSI families! We hope everyone had a wonderful break and that your New Year is off to an amazing start. We are looking forward to a terrific second semester of learning. Unfortunately our COVID community spread is climbing again, and we appreciate our parents and families continuing to keep open lines of communication with CMCSI when students are feeling ill or exposed to positive COVID cases. We will get through this together!

We hope you'll visit Wendy's in Oakwood for Spirit Night next week and enjoy your day off in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. this month as well.

If you haven't already done so, be sure to sign-up at Kroger here and Publix here to help CMCSI earn funds. It is a FREE way to support our school when you shop (you must reapply each year to link CMCSI to your rewards accounts).

Although the weather is cooler, our PTO is planning some outdoor events for warmer days... Mother-Son Night & Daddy-Daughter Night. Stay tuned for more information.

Warrior Wednesdays

Don't forget that every Wednesday is Warrior Wednesday! We encourage everyone to wear spirit wear or school colors. The class with the most school spirit earns our Warrior trophy for the week.

Last call to reserve a CMCSI Yearbook!

Yearbooks are still on sale! We ran out of yearbooks last year, so GUARANTEE your child's copy by ordering in advance. January 31st is the LAST DAY to pre-order and ensure your child gets a copy! Any remaining copies will be sold on a first come basis after January 31. To purchase a CMCSI yearbook for your child, please follow the steps below.

Select Shop My School, type Chestnut Mountain in the search bar and click on Chestnut Mountain Elementary School.
Select Yearbooks Products & Ads*.
Follow the prompts to purchase your Yearbook and accessories. If you are ordering yearbooks for more than one student, please complete a separate order for each student. This will help avoid confusion on Yearbook Distribution Day.
Be sure to save a copy of your online order so you can provide proof of purchase.

Character Education

January's character word is Self-Control. Students are learning that Self-Control means "choosing to do what you should even when you don't want to." Simone Biles will be this month's community influencer for demonstrating self-control. Parents can access the Parent Character Resources to reinforce positive character at home by clicking here. NEW Parent Liaison at CMCSI

CMCSI is excited to welcome Maria Rodriguez to our Warrior Family as our new Parent Liaison. Mrs. Rodriguez is available at CMCSI on Tuesdays or via email all weekdays. Mrs. Rodriguez offers CMCSI parents help with translating, scheduling parent conferences, or supporting bilingual students at home. Mrs. Rodriguez can be contacted here or by calling the school at 770-967-3121.

Parenting during a pandemic can be challenging at times. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta offers online resources for parents here. With resources for staying active while social distancing; how to discuss current events with children; and how stress can lead to behavior changes in students, this resource offers guidance and support to families during these unprecedented times.

CMCSI families can also reach out to our School Counselor, Sonia Stewart or our School Nurse, Shaunda Harper for health concerns, mental wellness support, food & nutrition needs, or any additional needs regarding your child.
