Students from Mrs. Alewine’s marketing classes attended a Building Ethical Employment workshop at UNG Dahlonega. They toured the campus to learn about post-secondary options and participated in activities designed to foster critical thinking, decision making, and teamwork skills.

CTAE students enjoyed learning outside of the classroom at several events this past week.  Work-Based Learning Seniors attended the Young Professionals conference where they practiced networking and communication skills and learned how to make a great first impression with future employers.

The North Hall SkillsUSA chapter traveled to the Chicopee Woods Ag Center to compete in the Skills Challenge and receive hands on experience in construction related careers.  Ellis Robertson brought home 1st Place in the plumbing challenge and will move on to represent us at the State competition in the spring .

Classroom Corner

Mrs. Henman’s psychology classes are learning about our five senses and their related deficits. We played a version of the “Blindman’s Bluff” game to explore our sense of hearing. The students stood around the perimeter of the area and repeated some sound, such as clapping, whistling, or stomping their feet. The student in the center, with eyes closed, had to hone in on one sound in order to locate a student to tag. We talked about aspects that this task more difficult, including focusing on one sound, outside noises, the wind, sounds that moved, etc.

Mrs. Hanic's 1st and 6th period classes combined history and medicine to create a timeline from their early surgical pioneers' research project. From antiseptics to antibiotics and flying ambulances to facial reconstruction, they discovered how modern-day medical innovations got their start.

CTI/FFA Field Trip

Students had a great time visiting Jaemor Farms last week!

Students are encouraged to bring in new socks, gloves, and hats. Donations will be turned in to first period teachers and will be collected each Friday by an IB student.
