A word from Mrs. Bright
September is gearing up to be a very busy month at FBES. Please make sure you read the dates in the "Dates to Remember" section carefully so you don't miss out on any of these events.
We are excited about our first Title I Parent Workshop that we are hosting this month. The topic will be Technology (Launchpoint, Canvas, Infinite Campus Parent Portal, Volunteer Module completion) and will take place on Thursday, September 14th at 9:00 in the Learning Commons. If you can't attend, we will share a video of the presentation with our parents after the workshop.
Our Boosterthon Fun Run kicks off on September 21st. The Fun Run is our PTO's big fundraiser for the year so we need as much support as possible. The Fun Run will take place on Friday, September 29. We will be sharing more information about the Fun Run as we get closer. Our goal for the Fun Run is $10,000, and the monies raised from the Fun Run will go to purchase supplies for Enrichment Clusters and to help purchase a new keyboard for our music classroom.
Enrichment Clusters will begin the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 20. Enrichment Clusters are a designated time when every student in our building participates in learning that is of interest to them. Some of the cluster choices include STEAM lessons, Fossils, Music/ Drama, Baking, Yoga, Pottery, Crafts, and Podcasting. Each student has about 12 choices to choose from based on their grade level. . Each student has selected the cluster they want to participate in this semester. At the end of this semester, we will host an Enrichment Cluster Showcase for parents to come to the school to see and hear about all of the great things that have happened this semester in Enrichment Clusters. The first Enrichment Cluster Showcase is Thursday, November 30 from 6:30-7:30 PM. More details about our Enrichment Cluster Showcase will be shared very soon.
Lunch visits with students will resume the week of September 5th (after Labor Day). Lunchroom visitors will check in at the front office with their picture ID, and their name must be on the child's white card in the front office. Lunch visitors will sit on the stage with their child during lunch. We ask that there are only two visitors per student per visit due to limited space on the stage. Outside food is not allowed in the cafeteria. Parents should refrain from taking pictures of other students with their phones when they visit for lunch. Visitor lunches cost $4.50 and must be paid with cash. These guidelines and additional information can be found here for your reference.
Our morning car riders are learning the procedures for this very busy time of day at FBES. This video about our procedures was shared with families at Open House. If you haven't had a chance to watch it, please take a few minutes to do so. Remember, the double lanes are formed once you enter the parking lot at the car rider sign under the tree. Remember all students must come through the car rider line during morning drop off time. Parents, please remain in your car as you go through the car rider line. Students should open their own car doors when it is time for students to exit their cars. Please plan accordingly, and arrive early enough to go through the car-rider line. Our car rider line runs from 7:15 through 7:45 each morning. If you arrive at FBES at or after 7:45, please drop your child off at the front office for a tardy slip. Thank you in advance for your cooperation during morning arrivals.
If you haven't had a chance to complete the beginning of the year forms on Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please make sure you do so. Directions for setting up a Parent Portal account and how to sign forms can be found at this link. We also want to encourage all parents to complete any paper forms that were sent home and return them to your child's teacher. Thank you for your help with getting these forms completed.
Thank you for your support of our school!
Amy Bright
