October 2023

Our Parent/Student Handbook is online this year.  You can access the handbook by clicking on this link.

A word from Mrs. Bright

Thank you so much to each of you who helped make our 2023 Fun Run Fundraiser a HUGE success.  We had a great day.  We surpassed our $10,000 goal by raising over $16,000!!  We couldn't have done this without each and every one of you!  Way to go FBES Families and community.

October 5 is our Annual Title I Parent Meeting at 9:00 AM in person in the FBES Learning Commons and at 5:30 PM via Zoom.  The Zoom link will be shared on the day of the meeting.  We hope to see you at one of these meetings.

As the weather turns cooler with the arrival of Fall, several grade levels have field trips planned for the month of October and November.  Homeroom teachers will be sharing the details of these trips with parents.  One change for parents this year is that FBES will NOT require  parents to complete the volunteer modules in order to attend field trips.

Fall Fun is coming to FBES on Thursday, October 26!  We are hosting a Math Night from 6:00-8:00 PM on the evening of October 26 in front of FBES.  This event is free to attend and parents and students will learn some great hands-on math games they can play at home.  Parents will leave FBES that evening with great math game materials to use at home with their child.

Our first ever Trunk or Treat is coming to FBES on Thursday, October 26 from 6:00-8:00 PM in front of FBES. Students will visit trunks for treats after playing a game.  Frozen Frenzee will be here that night as well.  Our PTO will be selling spirit wear and selling tickets to auction off baskets during this event too.

Are you interested in volunteering at FBES for events such as Book Fairs, enrichment cluster help, guest readers, Field Day, PTO events?  If so, please go to this LINK for all of the information you need to get started with this process.  This process must be completed each year (even if you volunteered last year-you must re-apply each year).  The video at this LINK can also help you with this process.

Our morning car rider line procedures have been recently been reviewed and for now, we are going to continue with the car rider procedures that we have in place.  The drone footage shows a smooth flow of traffic into and out of the FBES parking lot.  However, a few items were noticed that we think can help us  improve.  First of all, we are asking that parents  refrain from using cell phones while you are in our car rider line and on our campus during arrival and pick up times as this will insure that everyone is paying attention to the movement of the cars.  Also, please remember ALL students must come through the car rider line during morning drop off time.  Parents, please remain in your car as you go through the car rider line, and have your child exit the passenger side of the vehicle.  Students should open their own car doors when it is time for students to exit their cars.   Please plan accordingly, and arrive early enough to go through the car-rider line.  Our car rider line runs from 7:15 through 7:45 each morning.  If you arrive at FBES after 7:45, please drop your child off at the front office for a tardy slip.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation during morning arrivals.

If you haven't had a chance to complete the beginning of the year forms on Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please make sure you do so.  Directions for setting up a Parent Portal account and how to sign forms can be found at this link.  We also want to encourage all parents to complete any paper forms that were sent home and return them to your child's teacher.  Thank you for your help with getting these forms completed.

Thank you for your support of our school!

Amy Bright
