A Word from Mrs. Bright

Happy New Year to our FBES Tribe!! We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break and holiday with your family and those you hold dear.  Thank you all for the kindness and generosity that you showed to our Tribe during December.  Our families are so supportive of our school, and we are so thankful for all you do to help FBES.

The second half of the year is here, and there a several exciting events coming up very soon.  Make sure to check the Dates to Remember section for special events happening during the month of January.

Report cards for the second nine weeks of school will come home on Friday, January 5th.  Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions you have regarding grades.

Please remember to label your child's coats, jackets, hats,  gloves, etc. with their names so lost items can be returned to students.

This semester, we will begin hosting monthly Snacks and Facts Parent Workshops. These workshops will give parents ideas and strategies on how to help their children at home, and we will present this information in English and in Spanish.  The first Snacks and Facts parent workshop will teach parents about Eureka Math and ways to work on Math at home. The workshop is Thursday, January 18 at 9:00 in our learning commons.  We will record this workshop and send out the recording as well.

It's time for parents to complete the Georgia Parent Survey.    Parents can access the survey at this LINKThis survey is anonymous and was created by the Georgia Department of Education to measure parent perceptions of school climate at your child’s school.  The survey window is open through March 1st.  We hope you will take a few minutes to complete the survey for us.

Yearbooks for the 23-24 school year are currently on sale.  The price for yearbooks is $25.00 and these can ONLY be ordered online through March 22, 2024.  There is more information about yearbook orders below or click this LINK and enter online code YB28846 in the box labeled ORDER PICTURES and YEARBOOKS (red box) at the top of the screen.

For students who ride the bus in the afternoons to neighborhood or community drop off sites (clubhouses, front entrance to neighborhood, etc.), parents MUST be at these bus stops to greet their children and get them off of the bus.  We have had several incidences in which students are getting off of their bus without a parent/guardian present which results in an unsafe situation for our students.  Thank you for your help in this situation.

Thank you for your support of our school!

Amy Bright

Previously Published Information:

Parents when you come to lunch, please remember that you can only eat lunch with your own personal child.  ALL lunch visitors must be listed on student's emergency card in the front office. Students' friends cannot be invited to sit on the stage for lunch.  Remember no outside food is allowed in our cafeteria.

In the mornings,  all students  (including students who are attending the I-Station lab) must enter FBES through the morning car rider loop.  If you need to walk your child in to the school, parents should park in the parking lot and walk their child in to the school.  The bus lane is used for buses, tardy student drop offs, and PreK drop offs and pick ups only.

We are excited to introduce Parent Tips from The Parent Institute.  Scroll down the newsletter and you will find a slide show of several parenting tips for this month.  We will add more tips each month to the slide show (newest tips will be at the beginning of the slide show).  We will also be sharing some of these parenting tips through Remind periodically. We hope you find them helpful.

Our Lost and Found is running over.  If you happen to be in the building prior to Winter Break, please look at the Lost and Found for any items your child may have lost.  Any unclaimed items will be donated to Good Will after the break.

Volunteer Information:  Are you interested in volunteering at FBES for events such as Book Fairs, enrichment cluster help, guest readers, Field Day, PTO events?  If so, please go to this LINK for all of the information you need to get started with this process.  This process must be completed each year (even if you volunteered last year-you must re-apply each year).  The video at this LINK can also help you with this process.

If you would like a copy of any of the tools below, please reach out to Wendy Trinh, School Counselor. Wendy.Trinh@hallco.org

Regulation Railroad

The Regulation Railroad is taught through our Tier 1 Sources of Strength lessons. This tool helps students work through their emotions.

Feelings Wheel

Simply naming our emotions helps the amygdala part of the brain regulate. This also puts the thinking / more rational brain back in charge.

Five Finger Breathing

This calm down strategy was taught by Ms. Trinh through classroom guidance. This is a great tool to use in part 4 of the Regulation Railroad.

DAISY Award

This year, we are giving our parents an opportunity to recognize staff members with our DAISY Award.  The DAISY Award can be given by parents to FBES Staff Members for being a Dedicated Adult Investing in Successful Youth.  It's as simple as clicking here and completing the form. Mrs. Bright will recognize the recipient each time the DAISY Award is submitted.  We can't wait to celebrate our wonderful staff for all they do for our students!

FBES Partners in Education

We love our Partners in Education (PIE's).  Their support of our school benefits our students and staff in a variety of ways such as student and staff recognition, school beautification, and school-wide enrichment.
