Our Parent/Student Handbook is online this year.  You can access the handbook by clicking on this link.

A Word from Mrs. Bright

December is here and we are entering into such a wonderful time of year.

We will be hosting a Holiday meal with our Fifth Grade families on Tuesday, December 12 during lunch.  This lunch is a special time for our fifth grade parents and students since this is the last holiday lunch students will have at our school.  Due to the volume of parents we are expecting, we are only having 5th grade parents for lunch on this date. Fifth grade teachers will be sharing their revised lunch times with their families for this day only. Fifth grade students are allowed two (2) guests per student (young siblings are included in this number). Guests should bring their ID with them along with cash for lunch. Each meal is $4.50 and must be paid before entering the cafeteria-CASH ONLY. Due to this special event for our fifth grade families, space limitations, and the revised lunch schedules, we WILL NOT have any other lunch visitors on this day. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

Our chorus students are hosting a holiday concert on Monday, Dec. 4th at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria.  Please feel free to come to FBES for a night of wonderful holiday music.

The PTO's Pancakes with the Grinch event is coming on Saturday, Dec. 9th.  The tickets for this event had to be pre-purchased and tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door.

Holiday parties are coming up on December 13 or December 15 depending on the grade level.  Teachers will be sharing more details and specific times for their parties with parents if they haven't already.

The week of December 4-8, our students will be participating in the mid-year MAP assessment.  Please make every effort to have your child at school each day this week so they can take the assesment with their teacher.  We are looking forward to seeing how much our students have learned and grown this first semester of school.

It's time for parents to complete the Georgia Parent Survey.   The survey window is open now through March 1.  Parents can access the survey at this LINK.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our first Enrichment Cluster Showcase.  Our students loved sharing their work with their parents and checking out other clusters.  Students will be selecting a different cluster for the second semester of school.  Enrichment clusters give students an opportunity to learn about topics that interest them and to explore and create within these topics.

Parents when you come to lunch, please remember that you can only eat lunch with your own personal child.  ALL lunch visitors must be listed on student's emergency card in the front office. Students' friends cannot be invited to sit on the stage for lunch.  Remember no outside food is allowed in our cafeteria.

In the mornings,  all students  (including students who are attending the I-Station lab) must enter FBES through the morning car rider loop.  If you need to walk your child in to the school, parents should park in the parking lot and walk their child in to the school.  The bus lane is used for buses, tardy student drop offs, and PreK drop offs and pick ups only.

We are excited to introduce Parent Tips from The Parent Institute.  Scroll down the newsletter and you will find a slide show of several parenting tips for this month.  We will add more tips each month to the slide show (newest tips will be at the beginning of the slide show).  We will also be sharing some of these parenting tips through Remind periodically. We hope you find them helpful.

Our Lost and Found is running over.  If you happen to be in the building prior to Winter Break, please look at the Lost and Found for any items your child may have lost.  Any unclaimed items will be donated to Good Will after the break.

Winter Break is December 18-January 2.  Students return to school on Wednesday, January 3rd.  We want to wish all of our FBES students and families a happy holiday season.  Enjoy this special time of year with your loved ones.  We look forward to the second half of this school year and watching our students continue to learn and grow.

Thank you for your support of our school!
