In this age of digital resources and twenty-second videos, it is refreshing to read words printed on paper. Especially on a bitter, snowy day when you are too tired to go outside, reading is the perfect way to fill the time. All readers know the feeling you get after a book is finished. What do you do when a book is done? You may keep in it a collection, or share it with a friend, or even give it away to a local bookstore.
206 Main Street is home to a new used book store where you can give your old books a new home. Lulu’s Book Nook sits nestled in a brightly lit corner of an old Victorian-style building inside the Me to You Consignment shop. Here you can browse and purchase used books. Lulu's Book Nook carries a variety of novels, ranging from fiction stories, and fairy tales to non-fiction and religious books. There is truely something for everyone.
Lulu’s Book Nook is owned and operated by a recent Hackettstown High School graduate, Alyssia Rapisardi. She spends her working hours behind a beautiful mahogany desk in the center of the store. “Hackettstown hasn’t had a used bookstore in a long time,” she says. “We get all kinds of customers from kids to seniors throughout the day.” Business has been good so far. She was excited to report that she made a profit in her first month.
“The best part about owning my own business is being able to talk to the customers.” Alyssia, or Liss as she likes to be called, says that she loves this community and the surrounding businesses.
At Lulu’s Book Nook, people can get twenty-five percent off of a purchase when they donate books. When you are there, you get a feeling of excitement knowing that someone is going to read a good book soon.
