HACC Foundation Creates New Funds

Many HACC students must balance chaotic work and personal lives with enriching classwork aimed at providing them with a quality, life-changing education. The global coronavirus pandemic has resulted in additional hurdles for them to face.

The HACC Foundation has created three new funds for excellence to help our students receive the needed resources to continue their educational journeys. Please visit the online newsroom to learn more.

Six times per year, colleagues have the opportunity to complete the HACC Foundation non-scholarship funding request process. For more information about the process, please visit the OCA channel on myHACC and review the online instructions in the HACC Foundation Funding Requests section.

Each month, we will highlight a HACC Foundation non-scholarship fund available for use toward an approved project or initiative.

Motivating Visual Arts Website Debuts!

In summer 2019, a group of visual and performing arts colleagues approached the Office of College Advancement team to see what could be done to enhance their ‘templated’ academic program pages. They were looking for a solution to help entice potential students to enroll in HACC’s arts programs. Since other college arts programs utilize visuals extensively, we knew we had to look ‘outside the box.’

Months of collaboration, including surveying more than 100 art students, resulted in a Visual and Performing Arts website that focuses on HACC’s most visually and graphically stimulating programs: art, theater, graphic and interactive design and photography.

The new website showcases student work and includes:

  • Student testimonials

  • Upcoming events

  • Enhanced program descriptions

  • “What you’ll need for class” section (which many of our students suggested!)

  • Meet our faculty section

  • Why consider HACC? section

  • What we offer/facilities/labs section

  • Calls to action at the bottom of each page

This new website will help keep HACC competitive among other colleges and universities.

Remember to use the communications hub – even during a pandemic!

A lot has changed at HACC, but effective project and time management are key to our success.

Please remember to use the Communications Hub Planning Guide and submit communications hub requests for these and other types of requests:

  • Advertising (digital and print)

  • Emails to current students

  • Emails to future students

  • Facebook group creation

  • Graphic design of flyers, postcards, etc. (new designs and revisions to existing designs)

  • Media advisories

  • New webpages

  • News releases

  • Video editing

If you are new to HACC or need a refresher on how to submit a hub request, please watch this tutorial video.

The Office of College Advancement team appreciates your efforts in helping us stay organized and promote the College effectively.

HACC to Offer Five Full-Ride Scholarships to Those Impacted By Coronavirus

Thanks to the HACC Foundation, five future students who are frontline workers or unemployed due to the pandemic have the chance to receive a full-ride scholarship. Starting this fall, it will cover the student’s tuition, books and fees required for the chosen program in a two-year period.

Students can enroll in any HACC program except for a few with current waiting lists. These programs, the full list of requirements and online application are available at hacc.edu/FullRideScholarship.

A committee of eight employees were given a set of guidelines to develop the full-ride scholarship project. From day one, these colleagues put the students first, outlined what the VIP experience will look like for our students and quickly implemented next steps to ensure the full-ride scholarships are available starting this fall. Thank you to these hardworking individuals:

  • Grace Bahou

  • Amanda Clemm

  • Kathy Doherty

  • Megan Hoose

  • Andrew Marah

  • Melanie Wagner

  • Michael Wagner

Please help share this exciting news with future students!

Summer 2020 marketing campaigns beat the heat – and national averages!

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, all students and employees had to make a quick shift to our new normal. Our marketing and advertising were no different. We needed to reassure our current students that we can still provide the same high-quality education and services. We also saw an opportunity to reach out to future students who may not have been considering HACC for their college plans.

Between May 4-June 15, 2020, the College launched summer 2020 modified marketing campaigns to the following audiences:

  • Traditional future students (persona campaign)

  • Nontraditional future students (persona campaign)

  • Current dual enrolled and College in the High School students

  • Current traditional students (students ages 18-23)

  • Current nontraditional students (students ages 24 and older)

  • Guest students – Students who may be enrolled at another institution and take some classes at HACC during the summer

  • Stop out students – Students who attended HACC but did not finish their credential

  • High school seniors

  • Parents of high school seniors

  • Unemployed individuals with only a high school education in our 11-county region

Here are some top results from those campaigns. Please visit myHACC for a list of definitions.

  • Snapchat continues to provide impressive results. In the month of May, we targeted traditional future students and received 7,003 swipes on our ads. This resulted in a 1.32% swipe-up rate.

  • The click-through rate for our responsive display digital advertising to nontraditional future students was 1.05% in May. This is almost double of what the national average click-through rate is for the education industry (.53%).

  • Facebook and Instagram boosts for current nontraditional students had a click-through rate of 1.23%, nearly double the national average of .73% for the education industry.

  • There were nearly two million impressions and a click-through rate of .89% for our responsive display digital advertising to individuals who are unemployed with only a high school education.

  • In a little over a month’s time, there were 22,064 swipe-ups and a .95% swipe-up rate on HACC’s Snapchat ads targeted to high school seniors. This means 22,064 users swiped up on a HACC ad to see more. That’s a lot of people!

Marketing Summer Classes in Lebanon Campaign Earns Impressive Results

To further reinforce HACC’s commitment to the Lebanon community, the Office of College Advancement implemented a campaign to market summer classes to individuals ages 17-30, living in Lebanon County. The advertising – including billboard, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat – ran from May 22 through June 25, 2020. A postcard and email blast were also distributed as additional tactics for this campaign.

Here are some highlights of the campaign:

  • 505,119 impressions

  • 1,676 conversions: the number of times someone visited the hacc.edu/YOURlebanon webpage from an ad run on Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads or Snapchat.

  • .69% click-through-rate

  • .87% swipe-up percent on Snapchat

  • .80% Facebook click-through-rate

To learn more about the advertising definitions and why these numbers are important, please view the advertising definitions document on myHACC.

HACC’s Lebanon Campus will continue to remain Locally YOURS for many years to come.
