He is consistently proactive in his efforts to integrate new digital technology into student instruction, and often recruits expert photographers, alumni, and faculty from the Rochester Institute of Technology to inspire his students. He collaborated with and assisted his colleagues in moving instruction to remote delivery. Garrick has an ongoing record of teaching excellence, and is a familiar face at HACC Open House events and during the Photography Art Experience Days.

Chrissy Everidge has been an adjunct faculty in the Radiologic Technology Program since 2007. She has held several roles including lab instructor, adjunct clinical faculty, and lead lab instructor. She is also the program’s expert on program and clinical assessment. Chrissy is always willing to help another faculty in the program to better understand a topic or situation. She brings an expert opinion to the table and never shies away from taking on extra duties. The Radiologic Technology students value her expertise in the lab and know if they ever need extra assistance, she is willing to help them any way she can. Chrissy is a critical part of the Radiologic Technology program and a valuable adjunct faculty member.

Matt Samley has been an outstanding teacher and good colleague for over a decade at HACC since joining the Paralegal faculty in 2009. He has been recognized by his students for his expertise and ability to provide students with important insights into working in the field of law. Matt regularly teaches two classes a semester and has taught many of our paralegal courses. In addition to teaching, he has brought his experience as a partner in a successful Lancaster law firm into his contributions to the paralegal curriculum and materials, particularly the new contracts course. Matt has also served as a member of the Paralegal Program Advisory Board. We congratulate Matt on this well-deserved award.

She has regularly participated in campus Meet and Greet activities (hallway greeter) to welcome students back to the first week of class in the fall and spring. She also led the faculty walking team at Gettysburg. During the Covid-19 crisis she assisted numerous faculty members in various disciplines to move their classes successfully to remote instruction. New Peer-to-Peer Faculty Mentoring Program!

Mentoring enhances teaching effectiveness (Williams, 1991), and increases productivity and satisfaction. In addition, mentoring promotes a more positive organizational climate (Corcoran & Clark, 1984; Melicher, 2000). The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Mentoring Program is a relational coaching model that provides supportive, collaborative, and active engagement for faculty members who are teaching online.

P2P participants enter the program via two tracks: Faculty who are new to teaching online or blended and faculty who currently teach online or blended.

Faculty Who Are New to Teaching Online and Blended

As more faculty become interested in teaching online, it is vital to have a relational structure in place to assist with transitioning to an online environment. Thus, participation in the P2P Mentoring Program is essential to success for faculty wanting to teach online or blended.

To forge the relationship between the mentor and mentee, the mentor shall attend the demo of the mentee’s course to collaborate on any necessary modifications to the mentee’s course. After completing CDI training online, the new Exit Demo process for final approval can be found here:

  • For online courses, click here.

  • For blended courses, click here.

Faculty Who Currently Teach Online and Blended

The P2P Mentoring Program provides advice to faculty who currently teach online and blended. Faculty may be teaching a specific course online or blended for the first time; may be struggling with teaching online or blended; may be a seasoned online or blended instructor who wants to discuss pedagogy with a colleague; or may want to improve a course. Advice includes, but not limited to:

  • Content Matter

  • Overall Design

  • Creating Content

  • Finding Open Educational Resources (OER)

  • Workload/Time Management

  • Thinking Outside the Box

  • Cross Discipline Efforts

  • ADA Compliance

  • Classroom Management

Under this track, faculty may self-identify as needing a mentor. Also, deans and/or department chairs may recommend faculty to the P2P program or request mentoring for faculty in need of remediation and support.
