February 2026
Dear Cornelia Cub Families,
We are so excited to be back at school together after our long, unexpected break! I hope you all stayed safe and warm!
Teachers are all feeling stressed and concerned about the learning time that was lost.
We need your help!
Please make attending school every day a priority.
Have your student read a book and tell you about it.
Practice math facts; addition and subtraction for K-2 and multiplication facts for 3-5.
Have conversations with your child. Encourage them to put down the screens and talk to you about things happening around them.

As we move through the school year, I want to take a moment to highlight how important regular attendance is to your child’s academic success and overall well-being. Consistent attendance helps students build strong learning habits, stay connected with peers, and feel confident in the classroom. Even a few absences can make it harder for students to keep up and feel engaged.
Here are a few helpful strategies to support strong attendance at home:
Establish a consistent routine: Set regular bedtimes and morning schedules to help your child feel rested and ready for school.
Prepare the night before: Encourage your child to pack their backpack, pick out clothes, and organize materials ahead of time.
Schedule appointments after school whenever possible: Minimizing midday disruptions helps students stay focused and present.
Stay in communication: If your child is struggling with anxiety, academics, or anything else that affects attendance, please reach out. I’m here to support you and your child.
Celebrate progress: Acknowledge days of good attendance and help your child feel proud of their commitment.
Together, we can help students build habits that support learning, confidence, and success. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need support.
Career day is coming up on March 13, 2026! This is an amazing opportunity for Cornelia Cubs to learn about different jobs and opportunities that are available right here in Habersham County. It is our goal is for every student to walk away inspired—believing that big dreams and extraordinary careers are possible for them. If you are interested in possibly attending career day to do a presentation on the field you work in, please reach out to Emily Morris at 470-977-2698 or emorris@habershamschools.com.
