Dear Cornelia Cub Families,
Students are wrapping up the first semester and working hard to meet their goals. Later this month, we will celebrate those achievements with our 3 STAR Celebration.
Students will also be taking their mid-year assessments, and we have some fun planned with upcoming spirit days.
We invite all students and families to join us on Thursday, December 11, for a presentation of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas, performed by our Cub Choir featuring 4th- and 5th-grade students. Following the performance, we will show a couple of short holiday movies. Concessions will be available, and all proceeds will support future student celebrations.
Please note that Friday, December 19, will be a two-hour early release day. Dismissal will begin at 12:50 PM.
All bus arrival times should be estimated based on two hours prior to normal time. For example: if your child's bus normally arrives at your house at 3:00 pm, it will be 1:00 pm.
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season!

Cornelia Cubs will be participating in the Monique Burr Foundation’s Child Safety Matters program this month. This age-appropriate, evidence-based program is designed to teach students important personal safety skills, including recognizing safe and unsafe situations, identifying trusted adults, and learning how to speak up if they ever feel uncomfortable or need help. The lessons are taught in a developmentally appropriate and supportive way, with a focus on empowerment and prevention.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home and reinforce the importance of communication and trusted adults. If parents or guardians have any questions or would like additional information about the program or lessons, please feel free to contact the school counselor.
Resources
Our Cub family is here to support students and families in any way we can—whether that’s helping students manage big feelings, connecting families with resources, or simply being a listening ear. If your child is struggling or if your family needs support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, Emily Morris, at 470-977-2698 or emorris@habershamschools.com.
There are lots of resources in our community to help families in need. The First Presbyterian Church will be doing a food give away in the Cornelia Elementary School parking lot from 8:00 am until supplies last on the first Saturday of every month. At school, we have access to food, jackets, and counseling resources your student may need.
