March 2026
Dear Cornelia Cub Families,
March is a full month with many fun activities! Starting with Read Across America Week, March 2-6! Students and staff are participating in fun spirit activities each day, and we have a guest reader daily. The Literarti Book Fair is also going on this week and will close Friday morning at 10:30 am. On Thursday, March 4 we will have our Math & Milestones event starting at 5:00 pm. Families join us to learn about what your student is learning in math and 3rd-5th grade parents will learn about the upcoming Georgia Milestones Assessments. The Book Fair will also be open starting at 4:30 p.m. for those who would like to shop.
March 13th is the end of Q3.
March 16-20 will be our Student-led Parent Teacher Conferences. Your child's teacher will be reaching out to schedule a time for you to attend.
March 24 is Kindergarten Registration night at Demorest Elementary School. Please see the infographic below for more information. You can also find details on the school website.
March 30-April 3 is Spring Break, and we will not have school.
We look forward to seeing you at these upcoming March events! As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

As we move into spring, we often see an uptick in disagreements between students. Warmer weather, excitement, and changes in routine can all play a role. This is a good time to help children understand the difference between conflict, teasing, and bullying—and what to do when these situations come up.
Conflict
Conflict happens when two students have a disagreement or misunderstanding. Neither child has more power than the other. It’s usually unplanned and can be resolved when both sides are willing to work it out.
How to help: Encourage your child to use “I” statements, take turns talking, and really listen to what the other person is saying.
Teasing
Teasing can be playful or hurtful. Playful teasing is friendly and fun for both sides. Hurtful teasing is one-sided, meant to embarrass or bother someone.
How to help: Ask your child, “Was everyone laughing, or just one person?” If the teasing isn’t kind, remind them to say, “Please stop. I don’t like that,” then walk away and get help if it continues.
Bullying
Bullying is different because it’s on purpose, happens more than once, and involves a power imbalance (like being older, stronger, or more popular). It is not a normal part of child and is something that is taken very seriously.
How to help: Children should be encouraged to talk it up to an adult if they feel unsafe or repeatedly targeted. Reporting bullying keeps everyone safe.
Talking With Your Child
Open conversations make a big difference. Try asking things like:
“What was happening before the problem started?”
“How did that make you feel?”
“What do you think would help now?”
Stay calm, listen closely, and let them know you’re there to support them.
Working Together
With guidance, kids can learn to handle conflicts in healthy ways, speak up when something isn’t right, and build strong, positive relationships as the school year continues.
Career Day
Career day is coming up on March 13, 2026! This is an amazing opportunity for Cornelia Cubs to learn about different jobs and opportunities that are available right here in Habersham County. It is our goal is for every student to walk away inspired—believing that big dreams and extraordinary careers are possible for them. If you are interested in possibly attending career day to do a presentation on the field you work in, please reach out to Emily Morris at 470-977-2698 or emorris@habershamschools.com.
If you would like to be a part of our school council or have suggestions, ideas, or comments, call our parent coordinator, Mixtly Sanchez, at 706-778-6526.
