After two years of compulsory study of the Chinese language, it is the time for you to decide if you would like to continue the journey of studying Chinese to a higher level (VCE).
Students are supported to further develop their language levels by exploring, analysing and producing content that enhance their speaking, writing, listening, reading and viewing skills.
Classroom discussions focus on exploring and extending learners’ understanding of contexts and audiences to enhance their personal communication skills.
Students also begin to explore a range of text types, including informative digital media texts, opinion pieces and news, narrative fiction and non-fiction, short videos, TV programs and music. They learn to interpret, create, evaluate and perform different types of texts, such as procedural, persuasive and narrative, across a range of domains.
As a faculty, we strongly encourage the completion of Chinese within the College to best prepare the students for the demands of VCE Chinese according to their varying levels of the language. Our Chinese classroom environments are very beneficial for language students as it promotes collaboration and communication and our Chinese teachers have a wealth of experience as teachers and VCAA assessors.
