Gunma University has set ambitious goals for the development of doctoral-level human resources.
Our primary objective is to broaden students' horizons and cultivate a rich foundation as researchers
through collaboration with researchers in different fields adding to deepen and pursue expertise.
Second, we aim to nurture the ability to promote research independently and with one's own will.
We also aim to develop human resources who can play an active role not only in academia but also
in various contexts, including industry.
This program is the embodiment of our unwavering commitment to these goals. We provide financial
support that allows you to focus on their research and guidance from leading educators and researchers in various fields.
These experts share their cutting-edge knowledge and experience with you, and actively
promote exchange with the international academic community.
We are dedicated to supporting you all, doctoral and postdoctoral students so that you can refine your knowledge and expertise and build careers as future leaders of society.
We are excited to walk with you on this journey of intellectual exploration and achievement, and to share
in the joy of your successes.

This program defines the three elements of "Ningenryoku*(=Resourcefulness)" necessary for doctoral personnel as "research," "interpersonal relations," and "self-realisation. The program aims to nurture practical doctoral human resources who combine these three elements and who are sought not only in academia but also in industry and other diverse sectors of society..
We provide 8 educational contents such as "Mentoring by Researchers in Different Fields", "Emergent Research Skills Course" and "Career Path Seminar", which correspond to the "7 Competencies" included in the "Ningenryoku" element for doctoral personnel.
We aim to create a flexible doctoral education system that meets the respective needs of students, business and society, and to create a virtuous circle of global and local cooperation between industry, government and academia, starting with the production of doctoral personnel.
We will support outstanding doctoral students to undertake challenging research by means of a 'research incentive fee' (165,000 yen/month) and a research grant (600,000 yen/year). We also support the costs of conference presentations abroad and off-campus practical training.
In addition, we will also provide educational content such as 'mentoring by researchers in different fields', 'emergent research skills courses' and 'career path seminars' to help students acquire transferable skills,
