Please note that email access, and access to all District systems, will be disabled on the date of termination. This includes the online pay stub system. Please verify/update your home address using the self service system before your last day of work. Correspondence (W2, benefit notices, etc.) will be mailed to the home address on file. If you move after you leave employment, please email your new address to hrprocessingcenter@greenville.k12.sc.us
You will access pay stubs after you leave employment via the online pay stub site. However, you must register as a former employee to access the site. Instructions are at Former/Inactive Employee Online Pay Stub Access
Any teaching certified employees leaving GCS would need to email their request for Professional Development submission to certificate@greenville.k12.sc.us.
Per Board Policy GBRI and Rule GBRIB, only employees eligible for retirement or transferring to a South Carolina State Agency/District that accepts sick leave transfer are eligible for sick leave payout or transfer of sick leave.
Loss of Accrued Sick Leave:
An employee loses accrued sick leave when the employee’s employment with the District terminates, with the following exceptions:
An employee transfers to any other school District in the State (according to the policy of that District).
An employee transfers to a State agency provided the transfer occurs without a break in service.
An employee is laid off or terminated under the Reduction in Force Policy or because of a loss of special funding and is subsequently re-employed within a two-year period, provided the employee does not accept a position with another District. If the employee returns after the two-year period, but prior to ten years from the date of termination, the employee shall receive half of the sick leave days accrued during the earlier employment, as long as the employee is not rehired in another District.
An employee who resigns in good standing, did not transfer to another school District, and is rehired within ten years of his effective date of termination is eligible for reinstatement of sick days not to exceed half of the number accrued on the date of termination.
IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR THOSE CONSIDERING RETIREMENT:
Retirement/Resignation – Employees considering retirement are encouraged to make an appointment with the benefits department as soon as possible. To schedule your appointment, please email Benefits (benefits@greenville.k12.sc.us) for scheduling options. If you are retiring you are required to provide a written letter of resignation/retirement to your supervisor. The supervisor, or designee, must submit to HR Processing, the letter from the employee along with the district termination form. This is in addition to any required PEBA and District retirement paperwork. Retirees returning to work in a benefits eligible position CANNOT be covered as a PEBA retiree; benefits must remain through Greenville County Schools. Please complete the Retirement Information Google Form after you have completed all the required PEBA and District paperwork.

FINAL PAYCHECK ISSUED ACCORDING TO THE DISTRICT’S PAYROLL SCHEDULE
ENROLLED, ACTIVE INSURANCE BENEFITS
All active insurance benefits coverage ends the last day of the month in which you were employed. You are responsible for any insurance premiums through that end date. The coverage end date may be different than the date of your last paycheck.
As applicable, COBRA continuation information will be mailed to address on file.
