Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, 

set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, 

make responsible decisions.  CASEL 

Students at BECK will participate in social-emotional learning during morning Advisory time. All middle schools in Greenville County Schools use an SEL curriculum, ReThink Ed. Students may also take an additional SEL assessment accessed through SchooLinks.

Topics will vary each week and are provided by counselors.

How You Can Help: We encourage you to talk with your child about what they are learning during this time. Extending these conversations into the home allows for reinforcing what is happening in the classroom by giving students real-world opportunities to grow their social-emotional skills. 

Parents are encouraged to access the portal to look at the content on their website. This access helps parents to be fully informed about SEL by seeing exact lessons as well as allowing parents to reinforce skills at home with their children.  Please see below to do so:
