Do you have 30 Minutes a week to make a difference in the life of a child?
Beck Academy would like to pair adult volunteer mentors with students who could benefit from encouragement during the school day. Mentor Upstate has partnered with Beck Academy to develop a mentoring program for our students during the 2025-2026 school year.
What is a Mentor?
A mentor is a suitable role model committed to serve as a guide and a friend for a designated student.
Who can be involved?
Mentors are mature, caring individuals who are genuinely interested in helping the youth of our community. Mentors should be a minimum of 19 years old.
What is required?
· Attend a virtual information meeting (1 Hour)
· Submit an application with Mentor Upstate
· Complete a Level II Volunteer with Greenville County School District
o Level II Volunteer Application
· Meet weekly with an assigned student or students (30 minutes over the students lunch period or in the morning during advisory)
Beck along with Mentor Upstate requests that any schedule changes or cancellations be communicated with the school in appropriate time. Additionally, mentors are asked to commit to the 2025-2026 school year.
What do Mentors do?
Mentors and students meet during advisory or lunch to mentor students. Mentors provide ongoing support to the educational and personal growth of students during their weekly meeting. As a role model for students, mentors demonstrate values of dependability, the need for goal setting, and the importance of an education.
