Although the Super Bowl was last month, at the time of writing this article, the game hasn’t been played yet. This article will contain my predictions for the game and how I feel the game will go. I will attempt to be completely unbiased and will contain only the facts of the two teams playing in the game. The game will take place on Feb. 11, 2024 in Las Vegas, at Allegiant Stadium, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chiefs have had an impressive and successful past few seasons, making it to the AFC championship game for six straight years and only losing two times.The team is led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as well as superstar, Travis Kelce. Mahomes has only been in the league for seven seasons and has been in the starting lineup for six. In those six years, he has led the Chiefs to six straight AFC championship games. GPHS senior, Luke Morgan, a neutral opinion on the game, said, “Mahomes is a great quarterback and the chiefs are a great program, as well as Brock Purdy and the niners. It’s going to be a great game and exciting to watch.” At this point in his career, Mahomes is on pace to surpass Tom Brady for the title of the greatest football player of all time. The Chiefs went 11-6 on the year, securing the two seed in the AFC. The Chiefs have played three playoff games thus far and have won two by a touchdown or more. Although it was a close game against the Bills that came down to the wire, the Chiefs still pulled the win: 27-24.

The 49ers, similar to the Chiefs, have had an equally impressive past few years. The 49ers have only had a losing record two years in the past six . However, their success has not just come recently. The 49ers have been one of the winningest teams in the history of the NFL, appearing in eight Super Bowls, 19 NFC championships, and 38 playoff game wins. The team is led by star players QB Brock Purdy, RB Christian McCaffrey, TE George Kittle, DE Nick Bosa, and LB Fred Warner. The 49ers went 12-5 on the season, giving them the number one seed in the NFC and a week one bye. So far, the 49ers have had two nail-biters for their playoff games, beating both teams by just three points. They beat the Packers 24-21, and the Lions 31-34. Atianna Vainuku-Johnson, a GPHS senior and 49ers fan, said that the 49ers “Deserve this one. they got us last time but it's our turn to beat them and claim another Super Bowl.” With a rematch coming, the 49ers will look to get their revenge against the Chiefs.

This year's Super Bowl will be a rematch of the 2020 Super Bowl. In 2020, the Chiefs pulled out the win in the fourth quarter, winning 20-31 and winning Patrick Mahomes his first Super Bowl. Although this year will be very different, the 49ers are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and, on paper, the Chiefs just do not have the star power to keep up. A few advantages the Chiefs have over the 49ers are Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid (The Chiefs head coach). Even without former Chiefs star wideout Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs are still a dangerous team and are not a team to take lightly. The Chiefs also have the intimidation factor, as well, because of the Super Bowl win four years ago; it will always be in the back of the 49ers players' heads. The Chiefs are also coming off of a Super Bowl win from last year. As a result, this will be one of the best Super Bowls in a while. With the history between the two teams and with the addition of Taylor Swift in attendance, the viewers of the Super Bowl will skyrocket.
