Dear parents
As we head into the half-term break, I wanted to share just how incredibly proud I am of our school. At Grange Park, some of the things that makes us special is our educational excellence, our commitment to the environment and our nurturing community.
I am absolutely thrilled to share that our Year 6 data is truly astounding! This places Grange Park among the most successful schools in the country, securing a spot in the top 3% nationally. What an incredible achievement!
Our sustainability efforts have been officially recognised with the prestigious Eco Green Flag award with distinction!
The strength of our community was highlighted beautifully during our Learning Conversations. It was so heart-warming to hear such lovely, positive feedback from so many parents as they were leaving. This real sense of partnership is what we cherish, and it’s why we’re so excited for our upcoming ‘Come Learn with Me’ sessions—please make sure you have those dates noted in your diaries!
Our children have also been shining brightly in sport. A huge round of applause to the 81 children from Years 3 to 6 who represented Grange Park this week, showing remarkable pride, fantastic teamwork, and brilliant sportsmanship.
Finally, we turn our attention to the GPPSA! We are all looking forward to their spectacular Fireworks Night—it's going to be amazing! We want to express our sincere thanks to the committee members stepping down from their roles: Gaya, Carrie, and Goulla. We're also very thankful for the continuing and new members and extend a special thank you to Cheryl as Chair and Leah as Vice Chair. The GPPSA is crucial for organising events, if you can spare any time at all to volunteer, please get in contact with the GPPSA—your support makes all the difference!
Have a wonderful and restful half term everyone! We look forward to seeing you back on Monday 3 November 2025.
With very best wishes to you and your families,
Tijen Hassan
Headteacher
As we head into the colder months, please be reminded of the NHS guidance to help parents decide whether their child is well enough to attend school. In most cases, if your child’s attendance level is falling, Grange Park will contact you (by phone or by email) to explore the reasons and discuss what help can be put in place to help you overcome the barriers they are facing. If your child is struggling to attend school, you can expect Grange Park to meet with you, and your child if they are old enough. Grange Park wants to understand the reasons for your child’s absence and what support you or they need to overcome the barriers to attendance they are experiencing.
Keep it up Broomfield family - you are the winning family at the end of Autumn 1 AGAIN! I am so proud of Oakwood and Broomfield family hitting our whole school target of 97%. Keep up the great work!

We are thrilled to take a moment to celebrate the truly amazing statutory assessment data from 2024-2025. Our results across all key stages are a fantastic "sea of blues," indicating our performance is significantly above the national average. Which has been the case year-on-year at Grange Park This sustained excellence shows we've achieved the highest level of performance possible!
Our KS2 results in Reading, Writing, and Maths (RWM) combined place us among the elite nationally: Our data for pupils achieving the expected standard puts us in the top 3% of the COUNTRY nationally! Furthermore, for the higher standard, we rank in the top 5% of the COUNTRY nationally!
This data proves we are a genuinely high-performing school at all key stages, and that our amazing children are truly succeeding, building foundations for bright futures. Thank you to all our incredible staff for your unbelievably hard work, to our families for your partnership, and most importantly, to our wonderful children whom you trust us with. We are so proud!
Friday 10th October marked World Inclusion Day, and we used this as an opportunity to reflect on what it truly means to be inclusive. In our recent assembly, we explored the importance of embracing difference, learning from others, and creating a community where everyone feels respected, valued, and seen.
As a proudly multicultural school in one of the most diverse cities in the world, we recognise the richness that different backgrounds, cultures, languages, and perspectives bring to our daily lives. The assembly reminded us that inclusion isn’t just about making space for others — it's about celebrating each other’s uniqueness and being open to understanding different points of view.
We were encouraged to show kindness, respect others, and be willing to listen and learn from one another — essential qualities for building a strong, compassionate, and united community both in and outside of school.
Brain School: Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds
A couple of weeks ago, to mark Mental Health Awareness week, children in Y1-6 took part in our fourth Brain School assembly, where they explored what makes a healthy lifestyle and how looking after our bodies also helps to look after our brains.
They learned about the importance of exercise to keep our bodies and brains active, how sleep helps our brains rest and recharge, and how healthy food and water give our brains the fuel they need to think and learn. The assembly also highlighted why talking about our feelings and doing things we enjoy are just as important for our mental health as they are for our physical health.
The children really enjoyed thinking about how small, daily choices can keep them feeling happy, calm, and ready to learn—helping both their bodies and brains stay healthy.
We were thrilled to welcome ChickenShed to our school as part of our Black History Month celebrations. The team shared powerful stories about the roles they’ve taken on in theatre that have challenged racial norms and opened doors for diversity in the performing arts.
The highlight of the visit was their moving live performance – an inspiring song that had everyone captivated and filled with hope. Our pupils left feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to celebrate diversity in all its forms.
Thank you, ChickenShed, for such an uplifting and memorable experience!
We are extremely lucky at Grange Park that all children from Year 1 upwards have their very own chromebook.

Green Flag Award
Children at Grange Park have earned an international accreditation this academic year, recognising their amazing work in making our school more environmentally friendly and raising eco-awareness in our community
Grange Park formed an Eco-Committee in the Autumn term, then collaborated with Michael to conduct an environmental review, assessing how eco-friendly our school already was. They reviewed everything from biodiversity within their school grounds to how children and staff members travel to school! Building on their findings, they then planned a year of action designed to advance Grange Park’s green credentials, improve our local environment, and protect our planet.
After submitting all the evidence of the wonderful work our children have done, we were awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag award with Distinction! We are so proud of our school and will be flying the eco flag high in the new academic year.
Come Learn with Me
Grange Park would like to welcome you into school for our Autumn Term Come Learn With Me event. This is an exciting opportunity for you to come into your child's classroom and join in with their activities! Please see the dates below:
What a Week at Grange Park!
It’s been an incredible week of sporting success and teamwork at Grange Park!
On Monday, our girls’ football teams played eight matches — and impressively won all eight! On Tuesday, our boys’ football team stormed into the next round of the cup with a 13–0 victory, and on Wednesday, our girls continued the winning streak with a 6–0 win, while our Year 3/4 superstars triumphed 10–1. Then on Thursday, our outstanding Year 5/6 boys’ football team were crowned league champions — with a game to spare! And finally, on Friday, our talented cross-country team represented the school brilliantly at Enfield Playing Fields and, yes, finished as champions again — Number 1 in Enfield!
In total, 81 children from Years 3–6 have represented Grange Park this week, showing incredible pride, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout.
A huge well done to all the children and a big thank you to our amazing coaches for their hard work and dedication.

Uniform Reminder
Just a quick reminder about our school uniform policy, especially regarding jewellery. For the safety of all our pupils, we ask that children do not wear any jewellery with the exception of religious items, small stud earrings, and watches ( NO smart watches). It's really important that all earrings and watches are removed before PE and games lessons. Loose jewellery can be a health and safety risk, getting caught or causing injury during activities. Please remember, jewellery is not part of our school uniform.
If you have any questions or if uniform requirements conflict with cultural or religious customs, please do get in touch with the school office. Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!

The Nursery children have been busily exploring Autumn through nature walks, our mud kitchen, and the story Leaf Man. “The leaves are different colours!” observed Raphael looking at the leaves that he collected.
We have also been enjoying our first Talk for Writing story: Dear Zoo. The children have loved drawing different animals from the story, retelling it with puppets, and acting out how the different animals move.
Reception have been exploring the topic ‘All About Me’, enjoying discussions about who is special to them in their families. Daffodil, Tulip and Bluebell classes have also been combining this topic with their interest in the Autumn season. Using natural loose parts such as conkers, leaves, twigs, and small log slices, the children have created wonderful representations of their family members. They have shown great creativity and curiosity, experimenting with different ways to design and build their ideas. It has been lovely to see their imagination shine through in their autumn-inspired family creations!
As part of our Learning Quest, ‘Our Local Area’, Year 1 went on a field trip to identify some of the human and physical features in Winchmore Hill. We learnt that a human feature is something that is made by humans and a physical feature is natural. We really enjoyed identifying different geographical features.
Here are some quotes from the children:
“We go shopping at this Sainsbury’s!” - Christopher, Dragonfly
“The road is human geography because humans made it.” - Milly, Butterfly
Year 2 were incredibly fortunate to visit the London Eye, where they were able to admire some of the most iconic landmarks across the city. This exciting experience brought our geography topic to life and helped the children deepen their understanding of London’s human and physical features.
We also took part in an engaging science workshop called ‘Kitten Rescue’. The children investigated which materials would be most effective for keeping a stray cat warm. They applied their knowledge of material properties to plan, test and draw conclusions, showcasing fantastic scientific thinking in action.
Year 3 went on a fantastic trip to Woodcroft Wildspace! The children loved exploring the outdoors and discovering all sorts of amazing wildlife. They used nets to go pond dipping and were excited to find small creatures living in the water. They also collected and compared different leaves and acorns, learning how to identify the trees they came from. They enjoyed spending time in nature, observing insects, birds, and plants up close. It was a wonderful day full of curiosity, teamwork, and learning!
Year 4 has finished their stunning watercolour paintings, taking inspiration from Cézanne and other great still life artists! The children focused on observing light and colour on fruits and vegetables and also on drawing the entire composition. They worked hard to show overlapping objects to create a foreground, middleground and background. Well done to all our young Year 4 artists!
Year 5 Explore Black Holes with Hands On Science!
This week, Year 5 had a fascinating visit from Hands On Science, who helped bring our space topic (Earth and Space) to life. The session focused on black holes — some of the most mysterious objects in the universe! Pupils took part in exciting experiments, including using balloons to mimic how a star collapses to form a black hole. They also built their own model of a black hole. Everyone was amazed to see science in action and left the session full of questions and curiosity about space.
This half term, Year 6 have been learning all about light in their science lessons and have carried out some exciting experiments to explore how it travels. One of their favourite activities was making periscopes out of empty cereal boxes. First, they carefully cut two holes at opposite ends of the box, making sure they were in line with each other. Then, they used mirrors, angled at 45 degrees, to reflect light from one end of the box to the other, allowing them to see over obstacles just like in a real periscope. Once the mirrors were securely taped in place, they decorated their periscopes and tested them around the classroom and playground. Through this fun, hands-on project, the pupils discovered how light reflects off surfaces and travels in straight lines, helping them understand the science behind how we see things.
