The AP Psychology course introduces students to the systematic and scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. While considering the psychologists and studies that have shaped the field, students explore and apply psychological theories, key concepts, and phenomena associated with such topics as the biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, learning and cognition, motivation, developmental psychology, testing and individual differences, treatment of abnormal behavior, and social psychology.

This course is a study of the development of western civilization from ancient times to present. Personal Financial Literacy & Economics

PFL

Personal Financial Literacy is designed to be an interactive and research-based course. The course will teach students to apply critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze decisions involving earning and spending, saving and investing, credit and borrowing, insuring and protecting, and college and postsecondary education and training. There are many references to conducting a cost-benefit analysis for spending and investing decisions. Students evaluate the necessity of the purchase, the quality or value of the purchase or investment compared to other alternatives, and the total cost of acquisition, particularly in the context of financing options. Students also understand the power of both compound growth on investments and compound interest on debt and how these concepts affect the ability to build wealth over time.

1301- US History DC Semester 1

USHICO

The first semester of this course in United States history stresses the planning and development of the English Colonies in America, the struggle for independence and the establishment of the Constitution, national territorial expansion, the rise of Jacksonian Democracy, the slavery controversy, the Civil War and Reconstruction. The second semester emphasizes new social and industrial problems, the rise of the progressive movement, the United States as a world power, World War I, the Depression, World War II, and contemporary America.

A survey of major principles derived from research on human and animal behavior. Topics studied include heredity and environment, intelligence, emotions, motivation, learning, personality, the senses, perception, and the form and functions of the nervous system.

2301-Principles of Macroeconomics

College Algebra may be a prerequisite for ECON 2333. The course includes study of the scope and methodology of economics. Development of principles useful for understanding aggregate economics and for choosing policy to resolve problems such as unemployment, inflation, recession, poverty, economic stagnation, and resource waste.

This course provides students an opportunity to study in depth the foundations of the United States and Texas political systems; to trace the development of the United States governmental system; to explore the role of U.S.-Texas and Texas-local intergovernmental relations within the framework of federalism; to study national and state constitutions, suffrage, interest groups, elections, the branches of government and constitutional law.
