Please note: With the sunsetting of the NCDHHS StrongSchoolsNC Toolkit, all COVID guidance for schools is now reflective of CDC guidelines and practices.
Current guidelines for returning to school after a positive COVID diagnosis are:
Symptoms are improving
No fever for at least 24 hours (without use of fever-reducing medication)
It is recommended to wear a mask for the first 5 days the student is back at school
A doctor's note must be provided to excuse a student's absences related to COVID, as with any respiratory illness. Home tests cannot be accepted as proof of a COVID diagnosis.
