Incubator Farms

For nearly 25 years, we've owned 12 acres of undeveloped land just east of our current location with the dream of building one day.

Until that reality happens, we've been working to steward our property to ensure it serves others. In 2018, we began this by partnering with Common Earth Gardens Incubator Farms, a ministry of Catholic Charities in Louisville. This organization works to support refugee families who come from a farming tradition in their country or origin. Through Incubator Farms, these newcomers learn current farming techniques, are assisted with land access to grow food, and are aided in developing their own farm business, plus given help developing a local market for their produce.

In the spring of 2019, we began partnering with Kachin Farms, a business created by three refugee families from Myanmar. In exchange for a 3-year lease to farm 2 acres of our property, these family farmers agreed to donate an annual tithe (10%) of the fresh produce they grow to our food pantry. It's a win-win situation for both of us: our food pantry members get fresh produce and our refugee family partners can develop a sustainable business for themselves. Plus, we think it's an awesome way to steward the land we hold in trust for God.
