I am a graduated from the National University of Mexico (UNAM) with a major in Physics. I got my bachelors degree with a thesis on numerical solutions on partial differential equations, and I have worked in reservoirs numerical simulation at the Mexican Petroleum Institute. I also have an 8-12 Math Alternative Certification through the University of Saint Thomas, and at present I enjoy teaching Statistics and College Prep Mathematics at Galena Park High School. I have been teaching at GPISD for 18 years, and previously teaching for 2 years at Spring Branch ISD.

Continuous learning is one of my guidelines, so I try to spend as much as possible of my free time learning new things. I'm always looking for staff development opportunities to recharge my teaching with new ideas. In the past years I have had the opportunity to participate in the Texas A&M Dwight College of Engineering E3 (Enhanced Experiences in Engineering) Program. I have also participated in the UH Cullen College of Engineering RET (Research Experience for Teachers) Program. and in the Rice University RET-PathsUP Program. Through all these programs I had the opportunity to work with amazing professors and under their guidelines develop lessons based on state-of-the-art research, that have taken my students to apply what they learned in class in awesome real world problems. One of my professional goals is to be an expert in my teaching field and create lessons based on real life applications to motivate my students to pursue STEM careers. I also love to use technology, specially to develop basic computer programs to solve math problems, and one of my goals is to involve my students the most possible with the use of technology.

I describe myself as a responsible and organized professional ready to face new challenges, always open minded to learn new work ways and concepts, and passionate about my work. I love teaching and sharing my experience with students and fellow teachers. I also enjoy family time with my wife and sons, music, singing, reading, watching movies, collecting slide rules, and walking my dogs.
