Introducing Korga Deeproot, goliath barbarian. Growing up in Port Nyanzaru, Korga maintains a grove of Wukka trees on a hill outside of the city. A tenday ago, her sister fell ill and died, but Korga could not sense her sister's spirit returning to the earth, according to her ancestor's tradition. Distraught, she entered the city seeking an answer to where her sister's spirit is and how to put it to rest.
When your sister died, you knew it was time for a change. The Wukka tree you care for lies about 3 miles into the Jungle. Your sister found it less than a year ago, and you have been caring for it, and harvesting the nuts under her tutelage and guidance. The nuts are gathered and brought directly to Kwayothe - one of the City’s 7 merchant Princes, or in this case Princesses.
The wukka nuts are carefully regulated in Port Nyanzaru. Kwayothe controls the harvesting of all magical fruits and plants with an iron fist. Kwayothe’s henchmen Ixis sees you in the morning before you head out, and Indar is waiting at the gates when you return each night. . If any of the fist-sized nuts have been harvested, you hand them over immediately and Ixis pays (1sp / nut). Typically you harvest a dozen a week - so it pays for your simple lifestyle. Now that Broota is gone, money might be doubled, but you lack the experience to nurture the tree, and an extra set of eyes in the jungle is always needed. You’re not sure how much longer this gig will last.
Three days ago, you were approached by Wakko, and offered 2sp / nut. He says he can meet you out in the forest so Ixis won’t find out - just a nut or 2 a week will change your fortune - but you’ve heard what happens when Kwayothe is crossed - and you have reservations.
When Broota passed, you discovered that Clara, a new priest of Tymora can cast Speak with Dead, and you have arranged for a reading today. You are waiting patiently in the sturdy Chapel in Malar’s Throat when you first hear the cries for help.
