Admissions

Visiting the school

Making a decision about a school for your child is very important and not one to be taken lightly. We encourage parents who are interested in Gospel Oak to make arrangements with the office at the time of application to join one of the regular guided tours of the school led by the headteacher (see school calendar for dates and times).

Applications to Reception

Children born between 1st September 2019 and 31st August 2020 will be considered for admission into our reception year group in September 2024. Please apply directly to Camden for September Reception admissions.

Please contact the school office for in-year admissions.

Applications to Nursery

School admissions criteria are set by the local authority and the policy can be accessed on Camden’s website on the following link- https://www.camden.gov.uk/school-admissions-general#rrno

Nationally, all 3 and 4-year-olds are entitled to 15 hours per week of free nursery education from the beginning of the term following their third birthday. You may be eligible for an additional 15 hours if you meet certain criteria, please click here for more information.

Children born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021 will be considered for September 2024 Nursery admission.

An application form can be downloaded here or obtained from the school office. The deadline to apply to the school for nursery admissions is February half term.

Applications made during the School Year

In year admissions from Nursery to Year 6 are dealt with by the school. You can download the application form (click here) or collect one from the office. You will need to bring it back with your child’s birth certificate and your council tax bill or tenancy agreement as proof of address.

Gospel Oak is a popular school so, once you have submitted the form if a place is not available in your selected year group you can ask for your child to be placed on a waiting list. If you wish to transfer your child from another local primary school, out of courtesy you are asked to inform the other school of your intention. There is a specific section on the application form for the current school to sign. You may also be asked to meet with the headteacher to discuss your reasons for seeking a transfer.

What happens if the school is full?

When an application is made and the year group in question is full, the child will automatically be added to our waiting list. Parents will be contacted in the event of a place coming up. If you want to remove your child from our waiting list please email nstorey@gospeloakschool.com
