Understanding your weekly earnings
Base Pay - Previously known as “commission,” Base Pay is a flat fee you earn for every order you deliver. It makes up the foundation of your earnings, and you always keep 100% of it. Base Pay is specific to each facility and is subject to change.
If you accept an order and it is then canceled for reasons outside of your control, you still receive your Base Pay.
Tips - When customers place an order, they have the opportunity to add a tip before and after it is delivered. Drivers keep 100% of customer tips.
Boosts - At busy times there will often be an extra dollar amount added per order. These boosts are often communicated by text message, as well as in-app, so keep an eye out for offers!
100% of our W2 sites offer an Hourly Minimum Guarantee for Gopuff Drivers. The Hourly Minimum Guarantee is a minimum rate you’ll be guaranteed to earn for every hour you spend online at the micro-fulfillment center, or out delivering orders.
Every Thursday, W2 facilities publish a list of available delivery time blocks on the Gopuff Driver app for the following week. W2 Drivers are required to schedule a pre-arranged delivery time to start delivering.
The hourly minimum guarantee is specific to each Gopuff micro-fulfillment center and is calculated weekly. To calculate the hourly minimum guarantee in your market, Gopuff looks at your earnings from your base pay (not including tips, mission rewards, and other miscellaneous payments) from hours on the platform that week, and if you earned below the committed hourly earnings for your market, we will top off your earnings to ensure you reach the communicated minimum.
These pre-arranged blocks are available during times we anticipate being most busy, so W2 Drivers can maximize earning opportunities while having the protection of an earnings guarantee in case demand is unexpectedly low.
Weekly earning periods begin and end at 5 AM local time Monday.
To understand total earnings, let’s start with the easy stuff...
Your earnings include a combination of:
+ Base Pay
+ Tips
+ Weekly Bonuses (when applicable)
+ Per-order Boosts
+ Other extras, like first-order bonuses
Add it all up, put it in the bag, it’s all yours!
Determining Hourly Minimum Guarantee
For Gopuff Drivers logged into their driver app, the next step is for Gopuff to calculate how much you earned in base pay for any pre-arranged delivery hours you selected.
Let’s say, for example:
You delivered during the 20 hours you selected in your driver app last week.
During those hours, you completed 50 deliveries.
You earned a $3/order at your micro-fulfillment center.
Your hourly minimum guarantee is $10/ hour.
That means you’ll have earned $150 in base pay ($3 x 50 deliveries) during your scheduled 20 hours.
Because your base pay fell short of the guaranteed hourly minimum, Gopuff will add an additional $50 to your pay
In total, you would earn $200 ($10 x 20 hours = $200) based on your hourly minimum guarantee.
Note that your tips, mission rewards, and other miscellaneous payments do not count toward your hourly minimum guarantee. Only your base pay and any applicable boost pay are used to calculate your earnings guarantee adjustment.
Our pay cycle starts at 5am on Monday and ends at 4:59am on the following Monday. Direct deposit goes out the following week on Friday. Some drivers may receive their deposit sooner than Friday, but that is dependent on your financial institution's processing timeframe.
Your minimum guarantee is specific to facility. This means that if you deliver for two or more different facilities in one week, where available, you will be awarded the minimum guarantee(s) as necessary for each location. These numbers are added together to get the guarantee pay for the week.
Also, remember Missions may be tied to one (1) facility. Learn more about Missions here.
You can view your earning information by logging into your Gopuff Driver app and navigating to the ‘Earnings’ tab. There you will see a breakdown of your deliveries, tips, and other details related to your earnings (by week). Please note that adjustments, including minimum guarantee adjustments, are calculated after an earnings period is over and may not reflect in Gopuff Driver immediately. Additionally, deductions such as tax withholding and benefits will not be displayed in the Driver app.
For a record of your weekly pay slips, simply log in to your Workday account and navigate to the ‘Pay’ tab.
You only qualify for boosts at the facility you are working at during the time frame specified in the boost alert. Boosts are not interchangeable.
As a W2 worker, you are subject to income taxes that are automatically taken out with each check.
If you are eligible and apply for benefits, these will be deducted from your paycheck as well.
You can view the full breakdown of your payslips within your Workday profile.
