T'Sou-Ke Nation's Sustainability Project

The Model

Starting in 2008, the T'Sou-ke First Nation on Vancouver Island began a planning process that involved everyone in their community, including children, to become a sustainable community, applying their traditional knowledge while also taking advantage of new technology.

  • Installed solar panels
  • Charging station for solar-powered electric cars
  • They have reduced their energy bills by 75%
  • They are working on new wind and wave power projects

GROUP CHALLENGE: Using the T'Sou-ke Nation model for solving problems as a community, discuss how we can have energy security for our grandchildren by using A Path To Energy Security worksheet to guide you.

QUESTION? How would this community generate energy on cloudy days?
