Hinduism

Students will be expected to:

1: Examine the origins of Hinduism.

2: Define monotheism and polytheism as they relate to Hinduism.

3: Examine the basic elements of Hindu belief: samsara, karma, moksha, dharma, the four yogas, the Hindu Trinity, ahimsa.

4: Examine excerpts from Hindu scriptures.

5: Demonstrate an understanding of Hindu ritual and worship and relate them to Hindu belief.

6: Examine the development of the caste system and its place in modern India.

7: Demonstrate an understanding of Hinduism’s political history and its role in Partition.
