Watch, Recyclaire Kids Story to Learn to Recycle by Kids Stories
After watching the video, Recyclaire Kids Story to Learn to Recycle, ask your child:
Can you remember ways that Claire recycled or reused materials. Note: If your child seems confused, don't worry, you can go back and watch the video. Have fun discovering ways that Claire recycled and reused materials.
Claire likes to plant seeds inside a yogurt container filled with soil. Today you will be planting a seed inside a reused container. Note: Remember to use a container that you have! Whether it's a yogurt container, a plastic bottle of water or something else!
You want your child to keep track of all steps they took to plant a seed. Have a conversation about the steps you take. Note: They could draw a picture or write about what they observe. Have fun planting together and do what works best for you and your child!
Here are the steps to take:
Empty the container. Note: Do not waste what's inside, enjoy a little snack!
Clean and dry the container.
Fill the container with soil.
Plant a seed.
Give the seed a small amount of water.
Place in a warm sunny spot. Note: Check the moistness of the soil everyday. Give a little water if it is not moist.
Now that you have the seed planted, ask your child:
What did we do to recycle a material? Note: Do not worry if they seem confused, have fun talking about how you reduced waste.
Watch it grow! Ask your child to draw their observations everyday. Note: Record the day on each drawing to see the changes overtime, e.g. Day 1, Day 2, etc.
Optional: If your child would like to keep a journal, they can write about the growth of the seed. They can make note of the changes they see or if they had to water the seed. Don't worry if your child is not ready for writing, a picture is a great way to keep track of their observations.
Hope you had fun today! See you tomorrow
