Learning goals for today's lesson:
I can make groups of objects up to 20.
I can explain which group has more.
I can discuss ways to protect the environment.
Note: This lesson may take a few days to fill in the Action Tracker Worksheet.
Print off the free attachment - Action Tracker Worksheet - Reduce, Reuse, Throw Away
A pencil.
Download and print off the attached Action Tracker Worksheet.
Here's how it works. For each group: Did you Reuse? Did you Recycle? Did you place it in the trash?
Every time your child reuses an object instead of throwing it away, place a check mark in one of the boxes under Did you Reuse?
Every time your child recycles an object by placing it in the recycle bin or compost, place a check mark in one of the boxes under Did you recycle?
Every time your child throws an object in the trash, place a check mark in one of the boxes under Did you place it in the trash?
Once you have one group completed filled move on to Step 3. Note: You do not need to have all of boxes filled in every group.
Now it's time to count how many you have for each, ask your child:
How many times did you recycle?
How many times did you reuse?
How many times did you throw an object in the trash?
What did you do the most? least?
Here's an example of Mrs. Boyd's:
Can you think of ways to improve your actions, ask your child:
What are ways that we could throw less items in the trash.
What could we do to reuse more objects?
Hope you had fun today! See you tomorrow
