Watch, I Can Save The Earth! By Alison Inches and Vivian Garofoli
After listening to the story you will see that Max the little green monster loves to save the earth.
Max talked about how to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Reduce means to use less of something, like paper or electricity.
Reuse means to use something again in a different way instead of throwing it away.
Recycle means to use trash to make new things.
Ask your child:
Can you remember ways that Max the little green monster helped protect his planet. Note: If your child seems confused you can go back and look through the story to point out things that Max did.
Now it's time to get creative! On a piece of paper trace your child's hand! Ask your child:
What are things that you could do to help save our earth, e.g. use less water when brushing teeth or give old unused toys to someone that could use them.
Your child can draw and color a picture of what they will do inside the tracing of their hands. Optional note: if your child likes to write, they can write a new way to help in each of their fingers.
Here's a picture of what your child will create. Make it your own, it does not need to look the same as Mrs. Boyd's :
Download and print off the attached picture of the earth. If you do not have a printer you can create your on world by drawing a circle on a new piece of paper. Note: You can trace a small plate or a cereal bowl and your child could color it in.
Let your child color the picture of the earth with green and blue.
Use scissors to cut out the hands and the picture of the earth.
Tape or staple the hands to the earth cut out. Optional Note: Hang up the picture on the fridge or in your child's room. Great Job!
Hope you had fun today! See you tomorrow
