Arrival & Dismissal

Bluenose Academy opens its doors for students open at 8:05 a.m. Homeroom period begins at 8:20 and during this time student attendance is taken. The first class of the day begins promptly at 8:25 am.

Dropping off students at Bluenose Academy

Many parents drop off their children at Bluenose Academy. Parents/guardians of students in grade Primary to Grade 2 may use the “Drop-off Loop”, but cannot park in that area due to congestion. If you need to come into the school with your child please park at the Community Centre behind the school. Parents/guardians of students in grades 3-9 can no longer use the “Drop-off Loop” and are asked to drop off students at the Community Centre parking area and allow students to walk around to the front of the building to avoid vehicle congestion in front of the school. Parents are reminded to check over their left shoulder as they are leaving the Primary to Grade 2 parent drop off area as the drop off loop has 2 lanes.

Arriving Late

Students who arrive late (after the beginning of fist class) must sign-in at the office.

Dismissal

Dismissal begins at 2:27 with first floor bus students. Walkers are dismissed when buses have been loaded and are leaving the school grounds (between 2:32 – 2:37).

Parent Pick-up

Parents who are picking up students at the end of the day are encouraged to wait until after bus dismissal (2:37pm), rather than having students called out of class a few minutes prior to bus dismissal. Constant interruptions (paging individual students for dismissal) at the end of the day creates a lot of confusion and denies all students of valuable class time.
