Body language is another way to communicate with other people. By using our facial expressions and body gestures, people can understand how we are feeling.
During our lessons in Bahasa Indonesia, to discover students’ prior knowledge about body language, students had to recognize some pictures and describe how that person was feeling.
Students were engaged when playing a game, where their friends had to act out a feeling using their facial expressions and body gestures, then they had to guess the feelings.
To know students’ understanding of what they had learned about body language, on Seesaw students took a photo of themselves using facial expressions and body gestures and explained how they felt.
Our work on the SHANARRI indicator - Respected led to a discussion about thinking of other feelings. So we introduced the Mood Monsters to the students and had a discussion about their experience feeling the same way as the Mood Monsters.
The Mood Monsters change how they look to show how they are feeling. Sometimes they are happy and become yellow, sometimes they turn blue and feel sad, sometimes they go bright purple and get excited, sometimes they go orange if they get surprised and turn to red if they feel angry, and turn to green if they feel scared.
Sometimes they feel calm and become light blue, and other times they are tired and turn teal blue or bright pink if they feel worried.
Students showed creativity and created their own Mood Monster using the template given or drew their own Mood Monster.
