Dear Readers, Do you know where money comes from? Where money was produced? How to use money properly? These are some questions that Year 3 students tried to figure out and find the answers to throughout our unit: How We Organize Ourselves. Yes, we are learning about the history of money, how we organize our earnings, spend it wisely, save it for our future and donate to others.
There are various activities occurred that happened during this unit. One of them is our field trip to the Bank of Indonesia Museum and Bank Mandiri Museum. Both of them are located in the west of Jakarta. They are side by side. We observed many different things related to money including; the history of money, how money functions in society, the the various forms of money, bartering and how goods and services were exchanged throughout history. We also learned about the history of banks in Indonesia and how people organized their earnings from decades ago. Furthermore, we were amazed when we touched the models of gold bars and stared at the pile of fake gold bars inside the museum. It was one of our fascinating moments.
In addition, we applied our knowledge, skills and experiences by performing at our assembly. It was about two families who received a fortune of hundred million rupiah but these families spent their money differently. One family was obviously well organized in spending, saving and donate their money. Meanwhile, the other family spent their fortune only for themselves and forgot to save it. By the end of the story, the wasteful family needed to do social jobs to pay their debts. The message were trying to convey from our performance is that we should encourage everyone to organize their money wisely by using the concept of earn, spend, save and donate. We can do this!
