22nd October: Welcome back to all our student athletes. We start Varsity Girls Basketball today (and Thursday) and Varsity Boys and Girls Touch Rugby (and Friday). Tomorrow is the first day of training for Varsity Boys Basketball. U14/15 Boys and Girls Volleyball is also continuing until December.
We also have the Secondary Athletics Carnival on Thursday.
Finally our U15 Volleyball teams will play in their first tournament this weekend, Boys playing @ GJS and Girls playing @ SPH-LV. Both tournaments scheduled to start at 8:30am, so if you can, come down and support the Hawks!
Finally as Season 1 comes to an end we wish to congratulate all our teams in having strong seasons.
Boys Volleyball and Girls Soccer both finished as runners up in 2nd place for their seasons.
Boys Soccer finished in 3rd place and Girls Volleyball finished in 4th place.
7th October: The end of our girls and boys soccer season has arrived. Our Girls Soccer team finished their season undefeated, with a 0-0 draw against BSJ. That result means that our girls have secured 2nd place, we wait to see the result of the last BSJ game to see. If BSJ lose our girls will be crowned champions. The boys suffered a 4-1 loss to a strong BSJ team, that result means our boys have finished in 3rd place for the season, a strong overall finish with a young team.
We also had our swimmers participate in an invitational swim meet on the weekend, on the left hand side of this page you can see the results of our individual swimmers. They did extremely well in a competition that had many swimmers from different clubs across Jakarta.
Today our JV Boys and Girls Volleyball teams finish their season against ACG, games starting at 3:45pm.
Primary Sport Update:
On Saturday our GJS Primary boys team took on teams from BJS and JIS.
They won their game against the BJS, 12 to 8, and lost their game against JIS, 4 to 12.
Coaches, Pak Adrian and Pak Aji, praised their offensive play, stating they created lots of scoring opportunities in a very flowing display of attacking basketball.
2nd October: A small update, the U14 Boys and Girls Soccer finals at JIS leaving from school at 2pm has been cancelled. At this stage the fixture will not be rescheduled and therefor the U14 soccer season is has finished. Well done to all students who participated in the season.
Primary Sport Update:
Global Jaya Basketball Tournament
Held at Global Jaya on Saturday the 28th of September
One girl's team and two boys team from Global Jaya made up of students from year 4, 5 and 6, competed against teams from Sentul and Kemang Lippo schools.
The girls won one game and lost their second game narrowly.
The two boys teams both had one win in their 3 games.
In an interview with Aqila from Year 5, he described one game as ‘rough but we fought back to win by working really hard on defense against their very tall player’.
Overall it was a great day, full of close matches and good sportsmanship displayed by all.
A big thank you to Pak Mike for organizing the event, the parents who came and supported the teams, and the great coaches, Pak Adrian and Pak Aji.
