On Monday 6th January, we welcomed back students, parents and teachers to the second semester of the 2019-2020 school year. From the very first week, many exciting learning opportunities were planned and you will be able to read about these in the year level pages. We also hosted a mindfulness teacher, Rachel Rush, from the United States who introduced a variety of mindfulness strategies to our Year 3, 4 and 6 students.
Since this first week, students have been engaged in social action through the donations for those affected by the flooding. We have also hosted guest speakers on various topics, experienced first-hand the community connections and examples related to our units of inquiry by attending field trips and displayed ourselves as global citizens by enjoying Chinese New Year celebrations.
January has certainly been an exciting month but there is still much to come. Our students will be extremely busy over the coming months and we would also like to engage our parents in the learning process as well. I would like to introduce a new Primary Years Programme Parent Handbook outlining the programme specific information. This has been created with the assistance of IB documents, leadership and teacher contributions and Year Level Representative feedback. We hope that you can take the time to learn a little more about the educational programme your child/ren engage in each day, and if you have any questions you are welcome to contact me, Ibu Dewi (Primary School Principal) or Ibu Windy (PYP Coordinator).
In addition to this new handbook, Global Jaya School will be running Continuum Workshops for parents on Wednesday 19th February. The day will begin with a joint session focused on Global Jaya’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and then extend to a series of workshops for parents to choose from. Please look out for the parent letter about this event as you will need to sign-up for the individual sessions.
