All available summer volunteer opportunities for tweens/teens in grades 6-12 can be found on this page. Some opportunities have set days/times that you will need to be available for, others are flexible and can fit into your schedule however you'd like. All of that information is specified below, so please read carefully.

All volunteer sign ups will be online through SignUpGenius unless otherwise noted.

Questions? Email kristen.rasczyk@glenrock.bccls.org or stop in the library for a chat!

Do you like to keep things neat and in order? This is the job for you!

"Adopt" a section of the library to maintain throughout the summer by making sure all items are in their correct order and the shelves are kept looking tidy.

Use this link to sign up and choose which section(s) of the library you would like to adopt. You can sign up for up to 5 sections. Once you've signed up, you will need to meet in-person with Kristen, our Teen Librarian, for an overview of the shelf-reading process before you can begin. This is required for everyone, even if you have volunteered as a shelf reader in the past.

After your initial meeting with Kristen, you may volunteer any time the library is open. Scheduling is flexible, but you should plan to commit to a minimum of 2 hours each week.

Create book displays this summer at the library! Choose a theme, 20-30 YA books (can be fiction, nonfiction, and/or graphic novels), create a sign for the display (can be handdrawn or digitally created), and decorate the display. You'll have use of the display shelves in the teen area and you can sign up for one or both sides.

You will need to be available on Mondays to put the display together. Depending on how many volunteers sign up, displays will rotate weekly on Monday.

Use this link to select which day(s) you'd like to sign up for and whether you want to curate one or both sides of the display case.

This summer we'll have a weekly Teen Crochet Club on Monday mornings from 10:30am-11:30am beginning July 8th and running through August 12th in the Teen Area. Do you know how to crochet? Earn volunteer hours by helping your peers learn how to crochet. You don't need to be an expert - as long as you have a basic knowledge and are willing to share your skills, you are welcome to join us as a volunteer!

Sign up online for any or all of the weeks. There is a separate registration for program attendees on LibCal that you do not need to fill out if you sign up using the volunteer link.

Inspired by The Sketchbook Project, the Glen Rock Public Library is building our own Teen Sketchbook Collection that will be available to browse & check out in the Teen Area. This is a great way to earn volunteer hours while contributing something unique and meaningful not only to the Glen Rock Library, but to the Glen Rock community.

We will supply you with a mini sketchbook to fill out however you like - draw, color, doodle, word art, collage, mixed media, stories, poems... get as creative as you like!

Sign up online then pick up your sketchbook at the Reference Desk beginning Monday, June 24th. The last day to pick up a sketchbook will be Friday, August 9th. In order to successfully earn volunteer hours you will need to return your completed sketchbook no later than Friday, August 23rd.

Use your technology expertise to help library patrons learn to use their phones, tablets, laptops, and other devices. Teen Tech Help will be held Tuesday mornings from 10am-12pm beginning July 9th and going through August 6th.
