English Language Arts

May 18-22

1. Dictation Sentences: We are doing dictation sentences to put together all your child has learned about writing so far. Read 2 sentences a day for your student to write. They don't get to just copy them now. The idea is for them to listen and sound out words, then capitalize the first word, form letters correctly, write neatly, put finger spaces between words, spell sight words correctly, and use the proper punctuation at the end of each sentence. It's a culmination of all they have learned about writing and they should be able to do it on their own. Mistakes will be expected at first and that's ok! (Please allow a sight word list to be available so they can spell those words correctly--the other words can be sounded out and it's ok if they are done in "kid spelling" 😉) See pictures of my examples below.

Take pictures of completed sentences to post in your student's Class Dojo portfolio. At the end of the week, video record your student reading the whole week's completed sentences back to you. Post that in their portfolio as well.

Monday: 1. Are you glad to go? 2. I like that kid!

Tuesday: 1. I love this hot dog! 2. Wow! I see the plant.

Wednesday: 1. Can you play with me? 2. Will you find a bug?

Thursday: 1. It was in the net. 2. He has a good mind.

Friday: 1. She has a kind cat. 2. The frog will jump up.

2. Handwriting Without Tears Book: Complete pages 43, 47, 68, 69, and 77 this week to practice correct letter formation. Try for one page per day. Follow along with my videos below.

Take pictures of completed pages to post in your student's Class Dojo portfolio. Video record your student reading the words and sentences on the pages and post that in their portfolio as well.

4. Read this week's Let's Find Out Magazine! Click the magazine below and find the login for a student. You'll need our class password: Welikepurple! With these magazines you can listen to it being read, watch videos, play games, and print worksheets.

Math

May 18-22

1. Module 5 Book, Lessons 6-10, pages 33-65. There is an Application Problem, a Problem Set, and an Exit Ticket for each lesson. See my lesson videos below.

2. Homework Succeed book, Module 5, Lessons 6-10.

3. Practice subitizing with the rap video below. Explain to your families what subitize means. Also, watch the teen number bond video.

4. Practice all the ways we know how to count to 100 (1's, 5's, and 10's), recognize numbers 0-31, and practice teen numbers. Use flashcard and video resources provided here and on the Everyday Practice pages in April and May.

Take pictures or video of your finished work and post it to your Class Dojo portfolio.
