Dictation Sentences: Read 2 sentences a day for your student to write. They don't get to just copy them! The idea is for them to listen and sound out words, then capitalize the first word, form letters correctly, write neatly, put finger spaces between words, spell sight words correctly, and use the proper punctuation at the end of each sentence. It's a culmination of all they should know about writing and they should be able to do it on their own. Mistakes will be expected at first and that's ok! (Please allow a sight word list to be available so they can spell those words correctly--the other words can be sounded out and it's ok if they are done in "kid spelling" 😉)
Take pictures of completed sentences to post in your student's Class Dojo portfolio. Also, video record your student reading the whole week's completed sentences back to you and post that in their portfolio as well.
