Sciences at GESS (Group 4)
The Sciences (Group 4) at GESS offer students the opportunity to develop analytical thinking, experimental skills, and a deep understanding of the natural and technological world. Through inquiry-based learning, practical investigations, and real-world applications, students engage with the scientific method to explore complex concepts and global challenges.
💠 Subject Choices at GESS:
👉 Physics (HL or SL) – Investigating the fundamental principles governing the universe, from mechanics and thermodynamics to quantum physics and relativity.
👉 Biology (HL or SL) – Exploring the structures and processes of living organisms, including genetics, evolution, and ecosystems.
👉 Chemistry (HL or SL) – Understanding chemical reactions, atomic structures, and their applications in medicine, industry, and the environment.
👉 Sports, Exercise & Health Science (SEHS) (HL or SL) – Examining human physiology, biomechanics, and sports psychology with applications in health and performance.
👉 Design Technology (HL or SL) – Applying engineering, innovation, and problem-solving to create and evaluate products and systems.
👉 Environmental Systems & Societies (SL only) – An interdisciplinary course that integrates environmental science and social studies to explore sustainability and ecological challenges.
👉 Computer Science (SL only) – Developing computational thinking, programming skills, and an understanding of algorithms, databases, and cybersecurity.
At GESS, Group 4 subjects combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on experiments and real-world applications. Students participate in collaborative projects, fieldwork, and research, preparing them for STEM careers and university studies in an ever-evolving scientific landscape.
