DC Department of Parks and Recreation Afterschool Meals Program provides meals to children at various locations throughout DC. The only requirement is to be under 18 years old, there is no application or identification necessary. Most sites are open Monday-Friday from 4-5 pm. Below is a list of locations:

Martha’s Table is a group that promotes health and wellness of DC families through providing education, resources, and fresh food. They specifically target their services toward the communities in Wards 7 & 8, but all are welcome!

Martha’s Table Markets: markets where guests can shop once per month for pantry items & fresh produce at no cost

Community Markets: monthly pop-up markets where guests can shop for pantry items & fresh produce (paused for Covid)

McKenna's Wagon: a mobile food service for those facing housing instability or hunger. Volunteers provide fresh hot meals and beverages every day of the year.

Joyful Food Markets: monthly pop-up markets held at 53 elementary schools in Wards 7 & 8 where guests can shop for no-cost fresh produce and basic pantry items. There are also activities for kids such as music and dancing, as well as healthy recipe samples to generate excitement about healthy eating and nutrition. (in partnership with Capital Area Food Bank & DC Health)

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
SNAP is a government run program that helps low-income families purchase food each month through an electronic card (called an Electronic Benefits Transfer card- EBT) that can be used as a debit card at most grocery stores.
