Daily Board

The Daily Board, led by a president, is responsible for the daily operations of StuBio and for implementing the decisions of the General Assembly.

Faculty Council

The faculty is governed by the Faculty Council, which is chaired by the dean.

The Faculty Council consists of a number of professors and representatives of the A.A.P., A.T.P. and 10 elected students. All reports and outcomes of the faculty committees are discussed at this council.

Education Quality Control Committee

The Education Quality Control Committee (Dutch abbreviation: CKO) is responsible for monitoring the quality of education and educational policy. The chairpersons of the program committees sit on this committee, as does one student per campus. This is the most important committee at the faculty level that deals with education.

Topics that can be assessed within this committee include assessment policy, profile monitoring between ir. and ing., evaluation of the parameters (learning content and forms of assessment) for functional objectives, streamlining the updating of course specifications sheets, regulations, faculty and program portfolio, language of instruction, and education policy plan.

The Commission Policy formulates recommendations to the Faculty Council regarding the preparation of budgets, the policy plan, etc.

ICT committee

The ICT committee considers all ICT-related matters at the faculty, in collaboration with the building committee when necessary. These matters include, for example, providing charging points for laptops, rolling out laptop classes, and so on.

Commission External Relations

The primary objective of this committee is to establish and maintain good relations between the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University and its various target groups.

Important target groups for our faculty include prospective and current students and their families, staff, alumni, and numerous external partners such as government and industry.

Internal communication and PR activities aim to create a strong sense of involvement among staff and students in the faculty's operations and achievements.

External communication and PR activities aim to build and support an international, positive image of the education and research of the Faculty of Bioengineering Sciences among various external partners.

Subcommission Sustainability

The Subcommission Sustainability is a subcommittee of the Commission Safety, Sustainability and Well-being, and its mission is to promote sustainability thinking in education, research, and business operations. Initiatives are taken here regarding sustainable travel policy, greening, mobility, etc. The committee also monitors the integration of sustainability into curricula and facilitates the link between education, research, and business operations.

The Subcommission Security is a subcommittee of the Commission Safety, Sustainability and Well-being.

Subcommission Well-being & Inclusion

The Subcommission Well-being & Inclusion is a subcommission of the Commission Safety, Sustainability and Well-being.

Commission Visiting Professors

The Commission Visiting Professors provides advice on the appointment of visiting professors and academic consultants.

Facultary Library Commission (Subcommission of the Commission Scientific Research) 

The Faculty Library Commission aims to expand the faculty library and provide a collection of scientific literature relevant to the faculty, as well as efficient access to electronic resources.

The Faculty Library Commission represents the faculty on the university-wide Library Commission.

Education Committee

In the Education Committees (Opleidingscommissie or OC in Dutch), students and teachers per programme come together to discuss education. This concerns the general policy and organization of education within the program. The objectives, design, and practical implementation are the responsibility of the OC.

Year- and class representatives

The year or class representative is THE link between teachers and students. Students can contact them with their questions/complaints, and teachers can contact the student representatives when rescheduling lessons or with other questions. The representative also works with the student representatives on the program committee (OC) when necessary and ensures communication with the student council.
