At the end of each academic year, the “election general assembly” takes place, where the daily management for the following academic year is elected by all general assembly members. Be sure to keep an eye on this website or our social media to find out the exact date of this general assembly! Don’t hesitate to come to our monthly general assemblies to learn more about how StuBio works.
The chairperson convenes the General Assembly, draws up the agenda and chairs the meeting. They oversee the implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly and the proper functioning of the student council. They coordinate the functioning of the board and represents the student council and the faculty students at faculty and university level. The chairperson also has final responsibility.

Monitoring external administrators
The vice-president replaces the president at general meetings and in external communications if the president is unavailable. They are also the contact person for the Ghent Student Council and ensure that someone is always present at the General Assemblies of the Ghent Student Council. Furthermore, the vice-president works with the rest of the board on various projects in a supporting role.

Searching for StuVers for selection committees
Within the GSR:

Writes reports on meetings
Responsible for accounting and all financial matters, primarily involving the submission of funding applications to Ghent University. Also supports the board in its project activities.
The communication board member(s) are responsible for internal and external communication within/from StuBio.
Within StuBio:
Designing and posting social media posts on Facebook and Instagram
Maintaining social media communication planning and explaining strategic planning to the board
Updating the website (text and news items)
Posting on Ufora
Posting updates and announcements in the campus chats and Discord
Designing promotional material (in collaboration with the Participation Board Member)
Sharing final reports on the website/DSA
Within the Faculty:
Communication regarding the Instagram page with the PR department
Following up with the PR and Alumni Committee
Following up with the Library Committee
Within the GSR:
Reviewing what needs to be shared from the GSR
Monitoring the social media of the other FSRs
The Board Member for Internationalisation is responsible for all policy matters relating to international affairs and external relations.
Within StuBio:
Contact with international students
Language policy (ensuring that communication also takes place in English)
Explaining meeting items relating to internationalisation
Distributing the agenda in English/Dutch
Within the Faculty:
Monitoring the visiting professors committee
Monitoring the Internationalisation committee (sometimes in collaboration with education).
Within the GSR:
Monitoring ENLIGHT
Monitoring the Internationalisation Council
Monitoring GUGC
The education board member(s) are responsible for all policy matters relating to education.
Within StuBio:
Explaining meeting items relating to education
Following up on projects relating to lesson recordings, blended learning, etc.
Within the Faculty:
Following up on CKO
Following up on OCs (not going through every report here, but checking with the OC student representatives to see how things are going and whether there are any difficulties)
Follow up on year and class representatives (list problems and pass them on)
Contact with education developer
Contact with FDO & education director (together with chair)
Within the GSR:
Follow up on education working groups
Follow up on education administrators
Follow up on Education Council
The Board member of Social matters monitors everything related to social policy within and outside the faculty.
Within StuBio:
Explaining social agenda items
Monitoring projects related to mental well-being, sustainability, gender & diversity, student restaurants, etc.
Within the Faculty:
Monitoring the Diversity and Inclusion Committee
Follow up on the Sustainability Committee
Within the GSR:
Follow up on working groups on social themes such as gender & diversity, well-being, meal provisions, etc.
Follow up on SoRa transfer
Follow up on social director, sustainability director and policy makers
Contact person for Green Office and Student Sustainability Team
Part of the daily board and main intermediary between StuBio and students on the campus Schoonmeersen

In addition to a position on the StuBio daily board, there are several other opportunities to get involved in student representation! For example, it is also possible to sit on a specific faculty committee, the faculty council, etc., or outside the faculty (and within Ghent University) to be part of the Ghent Student Council, the Social Council, the Board of Directors, etc. Be sure to take a look at this website under the headings “Who” and “How it works” to find out more about these positions.
