IMPORTANT!! READ BEFORE HOSTING!

First:
If you use a Chromebook, you are ineligible to host Jeopardy! Interactive. As of July 23, 2025, J! Interactive is only available on Steam, which is not available on Chromebooks.

Second:
The rules for hosting J! Interactive are a bit different from the rules for hosting JBL. Please make sure you follow them.

Alcohol policy and host tab: Hosts are not allowed to drink alcohol during Jeopardy! Interactive events. Currently, J! Interactive falls under the same umbrella as Alamo movie parties and bar events. For hosts unfamiliar with the tab policy for movie parties (different from GWD or JBL events), check it out here.
You have to use the Jeopardy! Interactive Beta via Steam. The Beta Access code is case sensitive: TimeplayEvents
Keep reading for information on switching to the event-build beta.
Be sure to use the correct game settings! Please remember that all of your settings are important to ensure that you have the correct content and that it's set up for single players instead of teams. All hosts will use Jeopardy Interactive as their venue.
Make sure you're using the right URL for the Opcon! For Jeopardy! Interactive events, the Opcon can be accessed via https://jeopardyinteractive.com/. DO NOT use playjeopardylive.com for Jeopardy! Interactive events.
Fill out the Alamo Feedback Form after your event. This is NOT done through OYQ. Navigate to the Alamo Feedback Form, select Theater Events, then J! Interactive. You will be paid once we receive this feedback form.

Step 1: Download Steam and Set Up an Account

Navigate to https://store.steampowered.com/ and download the app. Then you can sign in if you have an existing account, or create one for free!

Step 2: Activate Your Product Key on Steam

Once you've logged into the Steam app...

On Windows:

Go to the Games menu, select Activate a Product on Steam, and enter the product key that was provided to you.

On Mac:

Select + Add a Game in the lower left-hand corner of the Steam app, select Activate a Product on Steam, and enter the product key that was provided to you.

If you don't have a product key, email recruiting@geekswhodrink.com. Once you've confirmed your product key, the game will appear in your library.

Step 3: Switch the game to Beta

BEFORE launching the game, do the following:

Right-click the game in your library and select Properties
Select Betas in the menu
Enter the code TimeplayEvents (case sensitive!) in the Beta Code field
Select event-build from the Beta Participation dropdown menu
Allow the game to update, and then launch.

Step 4: Log in to the Host App and OpCon

You should only need to log in once. If you've already hosted using Steam before, you won't need to log in. After launching the game from Steam, click to login and use whichever sign-in method works with your email address.

You'll also need to log into the Opcon. After loading up the host app, launch https://jeopardyinteractive.com/ and log into the Opcon with the SAME ACCOUNT that you used for the host app. Later on, when you enter a name and join code, you'll be prompted to take control of the game, rather than join as a player.

Step 5: Download content before the event

Use GWD Jeopardy Database and select Get Content by Date.

J!INT Troubleshooting

If you close out of Jeopardy! Interactive, you have a 30 minute window to reconnect to a session. If you instead need to kill the session entirely, do the following:

Open the settings menu by pressing the "esc" key
Select System
Select Kill Session
Select Quit to confirm

On Steam, the applicaiton should then shut down
On WebGL, the webpage will become unresponsive and require a refresh or close

At this point, you can start a new session
