Every time you host an event, you are required to submit an Event Report within 24 hours of the quiz start time.
It's how you get paid!
During your game's breaks, take photos of teams. Score downloads are not required for the JBL event log, just pictures. Pro-tip: Take pics during the breaks in the middle of the Jeopardy! round and in between the Jeopardy! Double Jeopardy! rounds, then upload the pics during the break before Final Jeopardy. Zip! Pow! Then save your event report right after Final Jeopardy ends. What is...efficiency.
On the home page of Obeyyourquizmaster.com, select "Create a JBL Log."
From there, select JBL Host, enter your venue, double-check the date, and upload your pictures (you may have to do them one at a time).
Once your pictures are uploaded, just click "Publish!"
PICTURE QUALITY IS IMPORTANT!!!
Team pictures (or pictures of doggos, etc.) should be clear and uploaded so that they aren’t sideways or upside down (see FAQ below). These pics go up on our website at geekswhodrink.com and jeopardybarleague.com) and are sometimes selected to be used in marketing. The website itself is marketing for your quiz.
A few no-nos:
- Blurry pics (retake it or chuck it)
- Sideways or upside down photos (the photo uploader is kinda touchy but this is super avoidable)
- A snapshot of your laptop screen
- Just one photo of the bar (Get out there and talk to your teams! That’s another reason we take team pics, and part of hosting.)
- Inappropriate (Lewd gestures, rude clothing, nudity, etc. When in doubt, email qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com before uploading the photo)
Your log is due within 24 hours of the event start time. For example, if your event started at 7:00pm on Tuesday, your report is due 7:00pm Wednesday. It is your virtual time card and how you get paid. It is easy to do. Please do it.
The QM Support Team is flexible on overdue logs, but excessive late or missing logs can lead to remedial action up to and including termination of your position with Geeks Who Drink.
The three likeliest reasons are:
You uploaded your scores first and are now receiving an error message. Always upload your pictures first to avoid this, but to clear the error all you need to do is upload the pictures, click the blue "Save" button, and you should be able to publish.
They're HEICs. OYQ doesn't currently support that format. You'll need to convert the HEICs into PNGs or JPGs.
The file sizes are way too large. They should be about 1.2 MB or smaller. Anything larger than that will delay uploading or just not upload.
The most likely reason the pictures are flipped is because you took them in Portrait orientation instead of Landscape. If you notice your pictures flipping onto their side during the upload, do the following:
Remove them from the event report upload
Open them in your system's photo application
Rotate the photo, save, then rotate it again to the right orientation and save again.
Upload the new save file and things should work correctly!
If you notice your pictures are flipped after you've finished uploading, navigate to the "Quiz Events" tab on the Home page of OYQ, click on the pencil icon for the most recent event, Unpublish the report, and then complete the steps above before clicking Publish again.
Yes, you'll still be paid once you submit the logs, but late and missing logs are very bad. If you realize you've gone over 1 week without submitting, email qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com with the dates and locations of your missing logs.
JBL hosts are responsible for submitting a complete log within 24 hours of the start time of their scheduled event (e.g. by 7pm Wednesday for an event that started at 7pm Tuesday) in order to promote the event and claim their pay. Any event reports submitted beyond that point are considered late.
Failure to submit reports can result in missing pay. It is the host’s responsibility to submit event reports for their pay.
Excessive late or missing reports can lead to remedial action up to and including termination from Geeks Who Drink.
