The Stewardship 12 Course, a uniquely designed Specialized Science 12 Course , aims to address the need for an upper-level science course that completely encompasses Indigenous ways of teaching and learning through an Indigenous science lens. The 2022/2023 school year is the first year for the implementation of this course, and a lot of learning, developing, and refining will still take place within the progression of this course. Because we feel that it is of upmost importance to create and develop an Indigenous Science course for the BC Curriculum and the new Indigenous-focused grad requirements, we wanted to create a space to begin to share our journey with the development of this course.
For any educators who would like to make copies of the resources provided throughout this website, we welcome you to respectfully incorporate material that is useful to you, and to edit or adapt the contents in order to best suit the needs of your students and the perspectives and teachings of your local Indigenous community. (Please use these resources with courtesy to the teachers who developed them and consideration for the Indigenous peoples and perspectives that we have tried to incorporate.)
The following poster outlines a collaborative partnership that will become an integral component of our Stewardship 12 course and inquiry theme this year. The research questions and methodologies indicated below formed important building blocks upon which the Stewardship 12 course was developed.
